There was an ages-old patent - from the U.S. IIRC - for a machine that would collect energy from onlookers' looking at it, harnessing the "glance energy" (or whatever you'd like to call it) so many believe in, but I couldn't find it mentioned on the web right away.

Edit to add: Not that searching for "willpower energy" or "weird patents" would not readily find some unusual stuff ...
