As the group walks onward, there is a few body bags at the end of the hallway.
Hmmmm...
Some timeline would be nice. The man (? Or a woman. He's not judging.) back in the other pod room was a skeleton, and he died in what he assumed was a shootout. There are lots of bullet holes around... Perhaps it was a cleanup of the entire site? If so, why?
Was the goal, perhaps, to get everybody on ice, and then dispose of the people who did it? That means the cleanup happened 200 years ago, and it begs the question - why? If it was higher-ups getting rid of the people who knew too much, they would surely take the bodies out. If it was someone else, out to stop them or deal with them, why did they leave people in the pods? Perhaps they killed everyone who could open them...
Alternatively, if the shootout happened only 60 years ago... why did they leave the six of them locked up. Very rude.
He waves at Charlie to keep her distance as he approaches the body bags. He gives one a very careful poke. Not soup, solid. Bones.
With his arm in front of his face as an extra bit of precaution, he carefully unzips a few centimeters of the bag. Skull. It still smells, though. Decomposition in a small, closed bag was bound to, but it's not bad enough to make him puke.
He respectfully closes the bag. Dead should rest in peace and not stink up the hallway.
All he got from this is that they died at about the same time. He still has no clue if bodies can turn to skeletons within 60 years... Eh.
Nine
The room isn't big. He sees Robin and Arthur close to the opposite wall, looking at what seems to be a layout of the place. Good! Nine proceeds to check the rest. There are some lockers, and one is down on the floor. He turns it around and a large smile comes to his face. "Jackpot!"
He retrieves a 10mm pistol, a box of bullets, a baton and... Oh, a bulletproof vest! Excellent! Nine brings them to the table at the middle of the room. "We got ourselves one more firearm." He says, while he verifies the slide mechanism. Working fine, and the magazine is full. Again he wonders how long these things have been abandoned. He looks for pockets, and finds none. "Who makes those stupid suits without pockets?"
Nine puts the box of bullets, the baton and the crowbar next to the shoulder bag that Robin found. It's good to have the stimpaks. It always surprised him how those things would save a person from deadly wounds. He takes the protective vest and inspects it. He wouldn't mind the extra protection, but it's time to think on the team. Nine shows the piece to the others. "I don't know what you guys think, but I believe the person that takes the lead should use this." He looks at Robin. "Unless you think that it hinders your movements, then Arthur should use it."
"I would keep the gun, because I have more experience and Robin should have her hands free." Then it strikes him that he's again playing the commander role. Not easy to do otherwise after being one for years, particularly in a challenging situation. He tries to soften things a bit. "Again, anyone feel free to argue. I'm not your commander." While waiting for an answer Nine takes the crowbar. He liked the feel of the steel, but now he have the gun, and should keep one hand free. Remembering the way Faust look at the crowbar before he handles it to him. "I guess you would like to try this."
Faust turns to Grey while he talks.
"I agree, give the kid the magic healing thing" he says. "And take the gun, too."
He accepts the crowbar with a smile. "Thanks. I guess it runs in the family... I won't be much use with it, though." It
is a nice, reassuring feeling though.
Robin
Robin turns toward Nine and studies the vest without taking her hands from the map, which she had started to peel off the wall. "It's a bit too big for me. I'm not sure if it'll hinder my movements, but I was counting on not being noticed by hostiles and dodging the ones who do notice me, letting the people with guns deal with them. I was only trained to handle rifles."
"Arthur should have the vest, then?" he suggests. "He is with you in the front."
She places the map next to their other finds so they can examine it closely. "Uh... Good news: The Pip-boy is mapping our way as we go." She frowns. "Bad news: We'll have to pass through the generator room."
"Well, duck."
