"Holy shit" Faust says eloquently. "Big bugs. Better though. Originally I thought zombies." He puts the safety on and lovingly ruffles Charlie's hair. "Lookit you, though! I miss and you stomp it to death! Great job, sweetie." He may be talking a bit louder than he should, but gunfire isn't really good for hearing. "Arthur, you alright?"

Nine

He looks at the group. They seem fine. Everyone got a little, or a lot, of goo, but no injuries.

Nine moves closer to Robin and checks the metal skeleton and the suits. "Let's take a look a this."

"I'm fine. This is nothing compred to being shot in the collarbone" He says, calmly, almost disconcertingly so.

He strides over to the metal skeleton Grey is looking at, and checks it over. He can't identify any manufacturer's marks or serial numbers, nor the power source, but he can see it's been damaged by a high number of bullets and laser beams.

"Well, some people with guns and laser weapons clearly had beef with this, whatever this is."
He speaks to the room, but as he finishes the sentence, he looks at Jay and asks "Any ideas, Song? You seem like the sort of bloke who'd know a thing or two about robots."

"Right. Got it." Welp.
He's pretty sure man didn't get bitten, that boot doesn't look pierced. Neat.

Nine

Nine crouches and carefully checks the bodies. "Hum, not much to say. They seem to be here for a long time. Judging by the marks they were hit by bullets and lasers."

Then he moves and rotates the metallic skeleton, trying to understand it better. "This one... I've never seen this kind before... but I guess we were out enough time for a bunch of new inventions."

Nine drops the carcass on the ground and stands. "Anyway, was hit like the others. Not much more to say."

"Ever seen bugs like that? I guess radiation... and the old "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"... Anyway, everyone seems ok, so what about checking this one?" He says, pointing at the canteen door.

"I saw some pretty big cockroaches during the siege of Amiens, but nothing like this. But then, you should have seen the rats. More like small badgers in size and shape." Arthur's speech is more natural and happier in tone, but it still has the cold, sharp edge that seems intrinsic to what they've seen of him.

Robin

"Uh, you sure they weren't just badgers?" Her eyes lingers on Arthur for a moment, almost as if she hoped to glimpse an once shattered then mended collarbone.

"Radioactivity alone couldn´t have done this, right? Right?

"I don't know to be honest. Everything I know about bugs affected by radiation is about misshapen wings and legs, not something like this." She frowns. "It could. Maybe? I don't like this."

"Let's look at the kitchen first," Robin says to Nine. "Someone armed needs to guard the residence door, but let's not split. Had we now and we'd have been outnumbered." She scrapes her boot soles on the floor, getting rid of any residue of radroach, and moves to end of the corridor to peek impatiently into the rooms. She doesn't cross the door yet.

Noticing the way she looks to his neck and shoulder rather than his face, he says "It's healed to the point that you wouldn't notice it if you didn't know it was there."

He continues with "Nope, I found a dead one in one of my traps I set for the french patrols. Definetely a rat. Besides, you don't tend to get badgers in cities, they can't make setts easily." He speaks softly, as he moves up to join her at the door.

Well then, noted. It takes a bug attack to get Arthur to get more sociable. Not that Faust minded, to be honest, he looked very shaken for a while. He had a family member in that pod, for sure... but it was nice to see him in a better mood.

Still high on adrenaline, Charlie starts grinning like an idiot.

"Holy shit absolutely. I remember now why I hate killing bugs so much. So much stuff inside."

She gestures towards the giant roaches.

In that moment Charlie remembers the holotape. She hands it to Jay.

"Here you go. Can you put it into the bag please?"

"Better question is how they got in here. Anyone seen any holes in the walls...? I don't remember any this size. Options right now are they either came from below, from that caved-in hallway, or from some hole that's in the residence and kitchen area" Faust says.

"As for food, I had a buddy once that told me he caught a roach in a glass and kept it there to kill him. Bastard survived for days, feeding on his fingerprint he left inside the glass... he let it go later from sheer respect alone..." He's just talking, it's not directed at anyone. He's checking the quality of the gun.
It doesn't look like it would explode in his face, but it would be nice not to carry a piece that was last cleaned decades, if not centuries ago... He figures he should switch it as soon as possible. Or start to maintain it as soon as they're out...

Robin

Faust joins Arthur and her. Now that he's armed, he will guard the residence door. Grey ain't getting the gun back, man had it in his hands and asked for a wrench.
For duck's sake.

Hmm... there's also a creepy looking robot thing. Stay away from the creepy looking robot thing. Why do they always make them so uncanny...

Nine

Nine watches the way Faust looks at the pistol. The guy is capable to handle it, which is good. "Keep it, Faust, we need someone to cover our backs." They only have two guns, anyway. Hopefully they will find more weapons soon.

He waits a few seconds after Robin and Arthur enter the canteen. Hearing no warning or sound, he follows and looks around the room. Nothing remarkable inside, it seems.

There's a closed door on his left, presumably to the residence area. He's curious, but decides to wait for the others, placing himself next to the door, on a position that allows him to watch it and also the door to the hallway. Meanwhile, Faust's question echoes his own thoughts. How those bugs got inside?

Robin

"Better question is how they got in here. Anyone seen any holes in the walls...? I don't remember any this size. Options right now are they either came from below, from that caved-in hallway, or from some hole that's in the residence and kitchen area" Faust says.

"Might have gotten irradiated then hitched a ride in with us and mutated for generations," Robin whispers back. "Or maybe the people from sixty years ago weren't the first going around." She gives the gun in his hand a side glance and mutters, "Please refrain from wasting bullets."

The canteen is unremarkable. Benches and tables, another terminal, a place to cook and from what she could see any still open cupboards sadly devoid of any traces of food. Robin lingers briefly near the closed door, her instincts telling her to sweep both rooms for danger, but she decides against it. Anything nearby in possession of ears and opposable thumbs would have burst out of that room the moment Faust fired that shot. There's no reason to expect an attack from that direction as long the door remained closed. They had time.

She creeps close to the cupboards, quietly poking at half-open doors with the baton when not holding it high and pulling the handles with her free hand, ready to strike anything nasty that could be hiding in them. Once she reaches the sink she stops for a moment to test if it still has running water.

Arthur follows her in and heads straight for the sink, carefully pulling out the duffel bag from the cupboard underneath it and unzipping it to see the contents.

Much of the bag is filled with boxes of preservative-laden foods, likely still safe to eat after all these decades. But these hold little interest for him when he sees the other thing in the bag. A laser rifle, with the apporiate ammunition. He pulls it out and checks it over, with a look of mild satisfaction. He's never seen the appeal energy weapons, far too flashy for stealth and requiring specialist ammunition, but at least it's a rifle, making him feel far more in his element. The laser pointer that forms the sighting apparatus is broken, and the imbecilic yank that designed it forgot, or worse, decided not to, give it iron sights, so he decides to use the remains of the sight mounting as such.

He passes his pistol and spare magzines to Grey, and says, loud enough for the other 5 to hear, "There's some food in that bag, with the amount of preservatives in that crap, it should be just as safe to eat as the day it was made, and taste just as awful."

"Hooray!" Faust says brightly. "That should give us a few extra hours to get out of here." With five people here, he doubts there is weeks worth of food. One has to be realistic. More importantly, they had... well, he had no clue how far they were from the city. Or a settlement, if the city was leveled. They have to get out of here quick, and they have to get going to somewhere with other people fast. Or, somewhere with other food sources. In case people they meet are dangerous.

He is watching the hallway and the creepy robot while the others are checking the room. Bugs didn't come from their direction, but still. With Grey and Arthur armed and inside, they should be able to deal with things should they come from the other room.

Robin

Robin's expression lits up at the rifle's sight. She nods in approval, inspecting a cell closely before returning it to the bag. With luck they'd find something similar—maybe an old-fashioned one with real bullets—she could use instead that stupid baton. In her hands it was as good as being unarmed, and her fondness for scouting under the real threat from big murderous critters and rogue robots while this helpless was decreasing by the hour.

"Hooray!" Faust says brightly. "That should give us a few extra hours to get out of here."

"We also have water. Need containers to carry it," she says, frowning at Faust. Was that sarcasm? She wipes her hands on her suit and resumes searching the cupboards, now focused on finding bottles too.
