Primarily heavier stuff, like Gojira, Rammstein, Job For a Cowboy, et cetera. I can appreciate older stuff, like Nirvana and Metallica. I like Jazz, Classical, and some individual Vocalroid singers, like Katerinu2, Miku-Tan, and someone who sang a few versions of Matryoshka. Some rap is ok, and I wouldn't need all of my hands to count the amount of pop songs I like.

Share some links, won't you?  Some of us in the Taru-ish age range have no idea what Kids These Days are listening to (and are often pleasantly surprised to find out!).

I like all sorts of music, but I figured some really deserve a note. :)

Tilbury is pretty awesome. Here's a video of their song Tenderloin, it's mildly disturbing because it's made out of the first ever horror movie made in Iceland, also named Tilbury.

Bróðir Svartúlfs is another good one - Velkomin. Not as disturbing but there's a, eh, statue of Frey present. Frey's a male fertility god so... you've been warned.

Benni Hemm Hemm is also awesome, Retaliate. No warnings about the video.

Skálmöld is my absolute favourite though - Gleipnir. Warnings for blood and guts... then again when the queen of Denmark visited us the last time Skálmöld performed this song for her with the video on the background. :D

(Although the queen has likely seen enough in her life that one gory video isn't probably going to impress her too much.)
(Also I'd like to point out I don't usually hang out with royalty. The show was televised so every single seat of the audience had to be filled, which is where our choir's team of volunteers came in and sat on the few empty seats remaining.)
(Hey, a free show! With the queen too!  ;D )

I thought I could add a few songs to the music list and I hope some enjoy my recommendations (if not, it´s okay too  :))

These are the songs my finnish-teacher at university made me hear (and translate):

Anssi Kela, Mikan faijan BMW:
/>
(This is my favourite song of him:
Anssi Kela, Harhaa:
/>
the same guy, speaking at length (in finnish) about major and minor keys in metal-music (I find it pretty hilarious);
/>(for non-finnish-speakers: starting 1:30 he begins playing examples) )

Reijo Taipale, Satumaa (finnish tango):
/>
Ultra Bra, Sinä lähdit pois:
/>
Native: :germany:
Mostly fluent: :uk: / :usa:
Rusty: :finland:
almost forgotten: :italy:, :estonia:, :vaticancity:

I have a request to put in, for anyone who feels like it!

I'm in a really jazzy mood lately, so I'd love some instrumental jazz recommendations! But, you know, fun, comfortable, sunny sort of music, not gloomy. And preferably guitar, but as long as it's good, I don't mind.

You'd probably like Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of Paris.

Rollo, our resident jazz expert, had a lot of recommendations in this early post:

Mmmm, beautiful~ Thanks, Sunny! And thank you, Rollo.

Still on the lookout for more, though! It is unofficial Lenny's Jazz Week this week, so the more music, the better.

And then forgot about T_T Thank you Sunflower for bringing it back!
And a bigger thanks to Rollo for putting it together! I definitely need more swing music <3

On this day, exactly 100 years ago, Billie Holiday war born as Elanaora Fagan. She lived only 44 years of a harsh and difficult life, and only sung for 26 years, but that small window was enough to consecrate her as the greatest jazz vocalist who ever lived, and possibly as the greatest vocalist of the 20th century.
