So I recently bought FNaF3 and have found it to be rather interesting. I refuse to play it with head phones in, cause sudden loud noises. I was wondering if anyone else here plays it/follows it?
I've played them all thanks to some friends talking me into it (well knowing that i'm absolutely terrified of jumpscares), and they're enjoyable but stressful as heck at the same time. I'd say the first and third game are the ones I like the most out of the series!

OrigamiOwl I hadn't thought of if from a developer's point of view. I agree, that Scott has gotten the right balance going on.

Baku I've also played all three. I agree 1 and 3 are much more enjoyable than 2, it just has way too much to worry about, the music box, foxy+flashlight, the Freddy head, as well the 10 animatronics to keep up with. So far I like three the best, with only one animatronic that can kill you.

I've seen some videos of it (Markiplier among others) since most youtube letsplayers and their mothers seem to have made a video of it at some point. Without having played it myself I have to say that I don't quite understand what the big scare is. It's like Slendeman, supposedly very exciting but not actually that scary.

I said that too. Then I played it, and it's much different then when you watch someone play. I can watch let's plays and such all day and not jump much at all, but then I play and every noise has me jumping. And don't pull a me, and play it in a dark room after midnight, before going to bed. It's not a good combination.

Speak for yourself, I almost had an accident when the fox got someone in a playthrough (weakness: jump scares). :D

I haven't played either of the games in question but I think it's the opposite for me? I watched someone play Dead Space once (in person, sitting beside them) and I was terrified. But then when I played it myself I wasn't scared so much as frustrated that I kept dying and not figuring out the controls XD

I don't count jumpscares as being scary though. I mean, even John Rambo would jump a little if an entire orchestra suddenly blurted into his ear but that doesn't really count as "being scared".

Your right on the jump-scares, but I think it's the tension that leads up to it that makes them scary.

I have only watched videos of it being played, so I don't really know. I find it incredibly scary, once, I was perched on the edge of a couch like a cat, and then there was a Bonnie(I think) jumpscare and I totally flipped out. I first jumped off the couch, spun around in the air, hit the ground, sat down while spinning and ended up in criss-cross.
I say vol, you say tron! Vol!
…Voltron?

It's a pretty okay game, however, I've never played it myself (not a horror game fan).
The thing that surprises me the most is how Scott managed to churn out 3 games in under one year, each of which has been successful. Now that's impressive.

I have a feeling he might have had them lined out and ready to go (or almost ready to go) before releasing the first, or he has no life outside of video game making.

I think it could be either one. However, I don't think it would take that long to make a FNAF game due to it being just a bunch of static and animated images.

It's not just that. It's a complete 3D world (even though you don't move through it) there is an incredible amount of detail there that it's really cool to look at.

Well, there's no doubt about that. I also like how Scott managed to stuff in a pretty extensive background story into just 3 short games (although the story that is widely accepted may not be true for all we know :P ).

Yeah. It's part of the mystery. We can only be sure of what we know, which isn't that much actually.
