I'm now worrying for Dipper's safety (I haven't watched the newest episodes I but know stuff went DOWN) because this is more accurate than I'd like it to be.

It's fine, Dipper's got a loving and caring family who can make sure he doesn't get into trouble.
Julian on the other hand has Sara, who's at the end of her tether in all likelihood, Alexis, who has standing orders from his CO not to let "that mad nerd" near active-deployment Cleansers ever again, and Haiz, who is only there because the Seiður Academy told hir to be.
Between the three of them, I imagine they form the trio of "It's your turn to babysit this idiot!"

GF-sona avatars is actually a very cool idea! One that could be taken further. For starters Haiz' sona seems kind of Mabel-y.

Aw.  Actually, Sara is quite fond of Julian, who reminds her a bit of her late first husband (the impetuous one), and also of her bright 12-year-old nephew.

Besides, having spent her entire adult life trying to be responsible and practical (while being personally interested in something IMpractical, namely the now-vanished pre-Rash world), she finds it rather refreshing to be around someone who isn't fettered by any such considerations.  (Even though she often has to remind him to eat and occasionally even to change his clothes.)
