Hmmm. I haven't been very active in the forum lately, it seems. Anyway, I just applied for a summer job at a nursing home, and I really hope I get it because

1) Getting a job in Bergen while you're still in school isn't easy, and I'll have a better chance at getting a permanent job once I have some work experience

2) If I get a summer job I don't have to go to North-Norway for 3-4 weeks (and I'll have the house to myself and I LOVE being home alone)

3) My mum will stop calling me lazy, hopefully

4) MONEYYYYY
hhhh i hope you get the jooob
I've been applying for summer jobs too, I'm..... I'm 20 years old haven't had a real job yet
I've applied for ikea, a dozen cafés, some various stores, graveyard work............. but i'm a useless human being that sucks at functioning in society so idk. SIGHS
you'll know where to find me.

You can do it, you're an amazing person. I too thought I wouldn't get a job. I called for days straight asking about my application, but never getting ahold of the person I needed to talk to. I finally got ahold of the person, and it turned out they had been trying to reach me as well. I'm 21 and had only worked in contracted jobs, none that I actually had to really look for. The college I went to made us work, so I didn't really have real job experience. I know you can do it ^_^

Heheh, I have a term paper for my history of cartooning class which I need to have five print sources for, and I could only find three. (one I already had, two in the public library system) In despair, I went to my school library because it was more likely that they'd have graphic novels there. Lo and behold, they had one of the books, in not one but three volumes! >:D This better not be considered cheating...

Is one of those sources "Maus"?  Or something by Edward Gorey?  (My first tastes of graphic novels for adults, as opposed to "Tintin" and the like.)

Or did you have to find more antique and obscure sources, e.g. archives of "The Yellow Kid" or 19th-century "Punch" cartoonists?

It's a manga, actually. (totally not my taste) I would've much preferred Edward Gorey, but the artist I'm writing the paper on didn't list him as one of her influences, bummer. (the prompt is "explain how x artist onfluenced x comic artist. If only Minna had named some of hers.)

well this is a fiend one, pretty funny as well and has some odd words

Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw—
For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law.
He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair:
For when they reach the scene of crime—Macavity's not there!

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity.
His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare,
And when you reach the scene of crime—Macavity's not there!
You may seek him in the basement, you may look up in the air—
But I tell you once and once again, Macavity's not there!

Macavity's a ginger cat, he's very tall and thin;
You would know him if you saw him, for his eyes are sunken in.
His brow is deeply lined with thought, his head is highly domed;
His coat is dusty from neglect, his whiskers are uncombed.
He sways his head from side to side, with movements like a snake;
And when you think he's half asleep, he's always wide awake.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
For he's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity.
You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square—
But when a crime's discovered, then Macavity's not there!

He's outwardly respectable. (They say he cheats at cards.)
And his footprints are not found in any file of Scotland Yard's
And when the larder's looted, or the jewel-case is rifled,
Or when the milk is missing, or another Peke's been stifled,
Or the greenhouse glass is broken, and the trellis past repair
Ay, there's the wonder of the thing! Macavity's not there!

And when the Foreign Office find a Treaty's gone astray,
Or the Admiralty lose some plans and drawings by the way,
There may be a scrap of paper in the hall or on the stair—
But it's useless to investigate—Macavity's not there!
And when the loss has been disclosed, the Secret Service say:
It must have been Macavity!'—but he's a mile away.
You'll be sure to find him resting, or a-licking of his thumb;
Or engaged in doing complicated long division sums.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity.
He always has an alibi, and one or two to spare:
At whatever time the deed took place—MACAVITY WASN'T THERE !
And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known
(I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone)
Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time
Just controls their operations: the Napoleon of Crime!

It's 29 C today... :(
64% humidity... Not the worst, but...

I was so not prepared for this kind of heat so suddenly.  I need a lake to swim in.  Also, I'm falling asleep in half my classes even though I'm still getting about the same amount of sleep I usually get.  Curse you, hot weatherrrrr!
Feel free to PM.

Blegh, so hot. Have some...uh...ice cream or something?

On one hand, it'll be nice to finally go outside without my glove-clad fingers freezing, and on the other hand I kind of melt in hot weather.

Yeah...sounds like the weather we've been having, though not nearly as many warm days. Just when I decide it's finally time to wear a t-shirt the temperature always has to drop. Oh well.

And on the topic of school, I should really finish those papers I was supposed to write...
