With the virus spreading everywhere and more and more places going into lockdown, I think these last few months have been really hard on everyone, and I know for many of us the new pages of SSSS give something to look forwards to every day (when there's precious little else). But looking at the average length of the chapters, chapter break should be coming within the next few weeks, so I was thinking over the next chapter break it might be nice to have something a bit like the advent calendar, with people contributing art and poetry and writing and stuff for each day, to help people get through the 2 weeks. I'm willing to organise and manage it, but if other people are interested in this idea we could start a proper thread and really get it organised. It's obviously harder to do when we have no exact idea of when chapter break actually is at this stage, but I think we could manage - I know that I'm definitely willing to create and contribute some poetry for this.

If you think this sounds like something we should do, it'd be great if you could reply or message me, and we could start a thread for more in-depth planning.

i would so love to join in on this!!! of course the out-of-your-comfort-zone thing sounds, well, uncomfortable, but i think it's a great idea and challenge!

This afternoon, returning from a supply run (such as it was, given that the only convenient supermarket has a one-of-any-item limit), I suddenly became aware of something that must have been at the back of my mind since the morning when I woke up to the first full day of lockdown - the silence.

The usual background hum of the city was gone. It's as quiet as a country town.

That sounds really weird. Hard to imagine your city silent. I have seen it silent, but generally when I was walking home from work sometime between 0400 and 0700. Weird to think of it so in the daytime.

Only gettin gto this thread now, missed the 'outisde of comfort zone' discussion - will go back and read more carefully.  OTOH, I have done illustrations, fanfic, and poetry - does that mean I have to do porn?    (Yeah nah.  Oh wait, I thought of a porn fill for my prompt.... okay no.  Maybe I'll do a mecha drawing.  Or not.)

I've actually been trying to get back into drawing more. (bought a cheap android tablet for doing some digital stuff) Thinking of redrawing my old Self-insert/SSSS-magesona here in a bit.

I don't know whether we're still doing the out of your comfort zone thing, but you can give it a shot if you want. Preferably not porn for your official work, though - we want it to be accessible for all readers (you can write porn for an unofficial prompt response if you really want, haha). Honestly, I kinda forgot about the comfort zone thing with all the turbulence of organising this event, although I might incorporate it somehow, later on.

I have one in my WIP folder, but will likely orphan it if I ever finished it. (But, it's been untouched for months, and the challenge that initially spurred the attempt is long past.)

I thought, by the way things developed, that the "outside the comfort zone" became an optional challenge rather than a main concept, and I'm ok with that. I'm already thinking on the "home", but being #18 I'd say that I have at least 3 weeks to make it. :-)

I agree that we should keep things on the usual level. Anything 18+ could be put in the mature section of the forum, with a link, this way only those that has access can see it.

I also strongly support the mecha drawing idea! Please do it! :-)

Maybe all days, but not in mandatory way but rather a challenge to everyone that contributes.

I, for example, never posted a hand-made drawing, but am comfortable with that (even if a little rusted), so it would be just a little out of my comfort zone, or I could try making a sonnet (the horror! Nellie would hate me forever!) that's completely (madly) outside my comfort zone... Or I could give up (never!) and post a short story, but I'm sure nobody would be too disappointed, as long as it was a good story.
