We've just watched the Sydney New Year fireworks (husband is a Sydneysider). Beautiful, especially the fountain and the waterfall of fire flowing off the Harbour Bridge. Wow. Happy New Year, all, and may 2018 be better than this year. It surely needs to be.
(Sydney is fortunate in having Fort Denison and Goat Island to base the fireworks off, as well as the bridge, so it's possible to get spectacular effects. )

Happy new year!<3 Over here people were shooting off fireworks from 11am onward >.> (I wish I were joking.) And they're still setting off a few here and there now (the loud bangs rather than the pretty flashes). It was an incredible sight at midnight through to 1am, though! I and my SO went to the roof of the building and there were fireworks, some seriously impressive ones, going off all across the horizon, nonstop, for a straight hour.

The Netherlands goes a bit crazy for New Year's X3

Said SO is now in the air on the way back to their place, and I likely won't see them again for 6 months at the least :'3 It's been a marvelous week, but that makes it a bit bittersweet. The place is a bit empty now, too.

Temperatures here have ranged from -15 F to +7 F for the last week. So far at the office we have had the furnace fail once, the water pipes freeze up twice and the phones have been out since yesterday afternoon. I'll be glad when it warms up to high 20's on  sunday.

Whereas here it was 26C at 3am when I finally got to bed, with the forecast for today being 40C to 42C. And I'm about to head over to the market. Hope my flowers don't wilt!
