Bloodbath at work today. We lost 6 just from our group, not sure of how many in our office total, no idea of what the total numbers are company-wide.
Keep an eye on me. I shimmer on horizons.

What happened? Walk out? Lay off? Several terminations at once?

Layoffs.  Mainly our office; I haven't heard anything from my friends in other offices.

Urbicande, at least this explains why you've had no promotion despite good reviews. This may have been coming for awhile. I expect business investment, and therefore jobs, will drop off sharply now that business investors have had a chance to observe how the new regime is shaping up.

Nah, not really.  The amount of extra money that comes with a promotion isn't that big.

I was totally captured by his first trilogy. I will definitely be watching for this one. Lyra as a 20 yr old should be very interesting! Thanks for the heads up heiteru.

And we will have a TV show in the autumn! 2017 is really good year for HDM series  ;D

These books have radically changed my life, so I can't be silent! I have told about this news in all my social networks and to all my friends  :'D

I had my first day of university orientation today. I was all set, with a nice outfit picked out, tasteful make-up and a pre-packed bag. Nothing was going to ruin today! Overnight I apparently had an allergic reaction to my dog's shampoo and had to go to school so covered in hives I looked like I'd taken on an entire hive of bees and smelling of steroid cream. Thanks, universe.

Yeah, that sounds about right for university. On my first day I was wearing this nice Autumn-coloured long skirt with a lace underskirt to stiffen it (it was the 1950s, okay?), low-heeled court shoes, a cream blouse and a neat little brown linen jacket. I ripped my outfit, lost a shoe and wound up covered with undefined but very smelly filth in the course of rescuing a distressed kitten from a dumpster behind the chemistry building. Thereby establishing a reputation as 'nice but odd, and not at all proper', a reputation which was only reinforced as time went on.

But I kept the kitten.

Cats will always take priority over reputation. Hopefully I'll find some small animal tomorrow to bring justification to my own ailment.

What a great story to start off my day with! (well, my computer day, anyway. The actual day started as usual with 'pat, let out, let in, feed, let out . . . coffee!')

And that sounds to me like a truly excellent reputation.
