Actually, you chose a good time to start watching because the second season is coming out soon so you won't have to wait like, 4 years for the next season like everybody else.

Ohhh I keep forgetting the second season is coming out soon !

I don't care what anyone says, AOT is on my all time favorites list for anime right up there with Gurran Lagann, Angel Beats, Steins Gate, and naturally Sailor Moon if nothing else for nostalgia's sake  :P although I'm actually really happy with how Sailor Moon Crystal has turned out so far. I know a lot of people don't like the art or animation but idk I kinda like it.

Angel Beats might be one of my all time favorites but that's one that I'd say don't watch unless you're down for feeling really sad. The first few episodes for me were either just silly character establishing antics or too sappy to elicit any real emotional response, but some of the later episodes left me sitting at my laptop sobbing like a little baby for several minutes after the episode ended :c

Lately I've been watching a lot of romance/slice of life/drama anime like Tanaka-kun is always listless, Your lie in april, etc.

I found a new show to watch a while ago which I didn't know what to expect but it's so goood....

It's called One Week Friends and it's about this girl named Kaori who has a trauma-induced amnesia which makes it so she forgets her friends every monday. Like, totally wiped from her memory. This boy named Hase decides he wants to be her friend, she tells him about the amnesia thing but he kinda decides, "ok, well ima try to be her friend every week and help her get her memory back." The rest of the show stems from that point as she makes new friends and gets over her amnesia!

I would out this show on my list of "shows that gave me feels" along with Erased and Your Lie In April. So... watch if you're in for a feels trip. There is also a major canon romance between Kaori and Hase although neither of them has admitted it so far.

It is super good and I love this show, definitely one of my faves. It's only 1 season though... :(

Sorry for the necromancy/double posting, but this is a good show and I needed to talk about it.

Edit: it has really fitting music too.

AND WHILE IM HERE ill rec some currently airing anime!!! because this season is shaping up to be pretty neat
BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA/MY HERO ACADEMIA
-EXCELLENT EXCELLENT SHOW FROM AN EXCELLENT EXCELLENT MANGA!! i was SUPER STOKED to hear bnha getting an anime because it is a wonderful story with wonderful characters!! its set in a world where nearly everyone is born with a "quirk", or a "superpower", whether it be invisibility or the ability to manipulate gravity or even growing to the size of a building! everyone except mIDORIYA IZUKU MY PRECIOUS SON who happens to be the main character he is so pure and soft i will protect him;; DESPITE NOT HAVING A QUIRK midoriya wants to get into the prestigious hero academia YUUEI to become a hero, just like his idol ALL MIGHT, and the story follows him in his efforts to BECOME A HERO; its really really good with fabulous characters, and id also recommend the manga on this one because its shaping up to destroy my life pls all i wanted was a fun cute hero story i didnt ask for this heartbreak--

OH MAN I actually came to this thread specifically to talk about this one after I remembered watching it over the summer with my roommate and dang it was pretty good. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE character had to be Shouta Aizawa, for anyone who hasn't seen it he's one of the teachers at the academy and his quirk is that he can temporarily disable other people's quirks. But that's not why I love this character so much, he's just so done with everyone and sleeps all the time (maybe he reminded me a bit of Lalli in that aspect and that's why I liked him so much ?)

Look at that. Majestic.

Oh my...

I just got back into watching Your lie in April and... lets just say when I started watching again I wasn't prepared for a feels trip. :'( Such a good show though! It's about finding yourself in music and the emotions that music can convey, and finding inspiration, and really if you're a musician, or enjoy music you should absolutely watch it. It's just the most amazing show.

Well let's see.

This season I am watching Mob Psycho 100 and Jojo part 4: Diamond is unbreakable. Both outstanding in their own rights.

I have also recently watched The Boy and the Beast. Marvellous animation. Okay story. I really want to like this director's movies, but there is always something that falls short for me in them.

Also, I have found a boxset of a childhood favourite: Les mystérieuses cités d'or. It still holds despite being from the 80s. The animation is okay, the voice acting is... not so hot, but the story is just such pure adventure and the music is fantastic.

Vafhudr, in regards to the Boy and the Beast, did you see the Funimation release or an earlier version? There was a slight change in dialog that I really disliked in the copy I bought vs the one I watched online last spring.

That is a good question. Looking at the box, I can't see any mention of funimation. It was a different distributor, in this case Gaumont and another one called Mongrel Media.

Hmm, being overseas has its advantages. The one change that I really noted was when the beast, I forget his name, was first trying to show the boy how to hold a sword. In the version I watched online he said "you hold you sword like you hold the sword in your heart" The Funimation version changed that to "you hold you sword like you hold the sword in your soul". A seemingly minor change but typical of how some words are changed for our "sensitive" American perceptions. I'd be curious to know what is said in the version you have.

He said you have to hold your sword with your heart as well. Was that change in the subs or is that dub change?

No it was in the dub! There's Japanese language track also but no subs. Funimation can be real idiots. Another classic example is Spirited Away. In the Disney release the dub is kind of snarky. But if you do the Japanese the subs are much more polite with Japanese sensibilities. I'll have to see if I can find a different release of Boy and the Beast other than the Funimation one. I've got DVD players that are region free so if I have to get a non North American release it's not a problem.
Thanks for confirming that. For a while I was wondering if I'd mis-heard what I heard. It's way too long a story but I have a thing/special relation to swords so this was important.

Brave Witches is shaping up to be better than the meh I expected, though it's only episode 1 and Strike Witches episode 1s always feel pretty similar.

I watch a lot of crappy popular anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! and the like. I won't deny its ridiculous but that doesn't stop me from getting way too invested.
Mostly I read manga, so for recent manga-turned-anime, I'm very into My Hero Academia. Also One Punch Man a bit, so funny oh my gods.
But the only anime I'm watching that's important right now, is Yuri on Ice. I'm on episode four though, since I'm watching the dub and I don't care what people think of that.
Also I like Tokyo Ghoul(manga only), Free!, and Prince of Stride: Alternative. I have a general knowledge of most mainstream anime as well.
