As we had a lot of time to prepare mentally the times are not that dark. In september the doctors said she would survive 5 weeks. My Grandma said she survives because of pure stubbornness until she has organized everything she wanted to organize. It was only one week she could not leave her bed before that she lived quite normal.
She even managed to blackmail two priests of different churches to do one funeral with two priests. When we asked both churches said it was impossible for theological reasons.

Comforting hugs to your whole family, moredhel this is still hard and sad :onni: But the lizard looks really nice, I bet it took some of your patience ;) with all those tiny details.

Condolences moredhel, but also the traditional 'may her memory be a blessing' is obviously already true!  You are all amazing.  Your story is quite an emotional ride, but an uplifting one.

Moredhel, my condolences. Your grandma surely was special for what you tell, and she has a very special family too. The painted urn is a fine idea, with all the contributions surely made it unique and memorable.

It's great to have you here with us.

I'm sorry for your loss, Moredhel. Your grandmother sounds like a really remarkable woman.

Also, that is a very cool-looking lizard.

moredhel, sorry for your loss. Your granny sounds like she was quite the force of nature! The urn is a beautiful idea - what a great way to involve the whole extended family, and it probably helps some with the grieving process. Your lizard is lovely - I'd say you didn't merely try to draw it, you succeeded very well!

Just saw some SSSS-maps here, and I wander, if anyone of you happen to know what software are those made with?

The painted urn is a fine idea, with all the contributions surely made it unique and memorable.

As my mom told me on the phone the urn is very unique. My grandma wanted to be buried on her birthday in july. So the urn must be stored. Because german law is complicated, the family can not do that.
My mom now told me that the undertaker told her, if anyone wants to see our grandma, we should not go to his shop, we should go around the house to the back door. He lives there and he said the urn will not go to the storage room, It will be on the mantelpiece.

Moredhel, I hope the painting of your gran’s urn was a comfort to her family.

Here in Australia a painted biodegradable (cardboard or light wood) coffin is more usual for people who can’t spend a fortune on mahogany caskets and fancy fitments and who want the burial to be less hard on the land.. It can be either buried or cremated. When a friend and colleague died a few years ago I was asked to sing at her funeral, and while I sang both several of her favourite songs and a dirge I had made for her the young people of her family and whoever else needed to do so painted her coffin most beautifully. It was lovely to see, and what she would have wanted. That kind of family sharing can be a huge help in families bearing the loss of a valued family member.

And the lizard is a very nice touch, and suitable to the occasion, being a creature symbolic of regeneration, and of the sun.

Today I want to show something more crafts than art. We ordered chinese food and were given a small buttle of a drink. My wife told me this bottle will become a vase for small flowers and I have to paint it. She wantet cherry or plum flowers. I think it turned out quite nice for my first drawing on glass.

Here I zoomed a little in on the painted part:

There is not much detail because the flat part on wich I drew is 5 cm wide.

That's a really pretty painting, especially for something so small! The bottle itself is also very unusual in shape.
