The eruption JoB and Róisín commented went on for a period of 54 days, so much longer than the three smaller ones. Then it went quiet for a while, but now it’s started again. The eruption number 8 since 2021 started with force on May 29th but has since reduced in volume. There are currently no residents in Grindavik, but businesses are operating so worker so were quickly evacuated along with the Blue Lagoon and the Svartsengi power plant that sits on the magma reservoir that keeps pumping out these eruptions. Luckily for Icelanders, so far the eruptions have been away from the power plant.
