What's this with the big monsters lurking in the dream sea, intent on preying on Lalli?

Leaftroll was both cunning and persistent, but I’m ever wondering about Handsy Moose. What kind of entity it even is? Clearly a monster, but? Does it exist only in the dream ocean, or also in the physical world? What did it want to do to Lalli? What would have happened to him, if it succeeded? I fear we’ll never know!

Exactly.  Although Handsy Moose has the superior design (all those waving hands, so pretty), Leaftroll had a huge impact on the story. 
They survived the punch-fest of Lalli's luonto.  They then schlepped along using the snow as a sunshield, and took their opportunity to bite Reynir Sigrun, thus wounding her arm.  As if that wasn't bad enough, they crawled within reach of the ghosts within the palace, lending the ghost that became Sleipnope its first acquisition of energy.  That's a lot of plot to set in motion for one little troll.

So to put it shortly, this little critter is the reason all of the most worst things in Adventure 1!

I had forgotten about how it was also the starting point of Sleipnope.

I voted for handsy cause it's montruously creepy with all those hands trying to catch Lalli... Hey, maybe all they wanted was a hug! 

Leaf is, indeed, responsible for many things... That had already ocurred to me, and I agree that it is a key agent in the story.
But if you think a bit more it was all set in motion because Lalli didn't want to back down and find another way, perhaps on the next day. So what he, and we all, saw as a triumph (cleaning that building with his Luonto) ended up creating some big, unexpected consequences...

I'd never dare to tell it to Lalli. And I'm sure he did it with fully convinced that it was the best option, cause they could be ambushed if they backtracked. And he did it with great effort!
Actually we don't have any lazy member on the party. Each did their best. Mikkel also failed to eliminate leaftroll...
The story had to roll, and a higher power (Minna) had their fates written.

Me too, Grey! Me too 

Yeah, it was Sigrun who insisted there can be NO backtracking, Mikkel hit Emil instead of Leaftroll, Reynir was out and therefore had to be protected, leading to Sigrun hurting her arm, which later led to the floortroll being able to avoid her, and to the confusion about where it’d gotten to. And Mikkel failed to appreciate the danger from the murderghosts. And so on and so forth. Well built story, as everything happens for a reason but it’s not the fault of any one character!

So to put it shortly, this little critter is the reason all of the most worst things in Adventure 1!
