My cake arrived after all!



Reporting for duty as the chief officer of S/S Kuru. The Kuru sunk in a storm outside of Tampere September 7, 1929, taking with it 136 out of the total of 162 people on board. The accident remains the worst shipwreck in inland waters of Finland. The ship was lifted from the bottom on September 22, and started on its line again on October 14 of the same year. Why would you waste a perfectly good ship because of some bad luck with weather, hm? The accident was later taken to court, and two courts found the captain not guilty, ruling the main reason of the accident to be unexpectedly strong forces of nature.

Hmm, it’s definitely a ship that sank, wouldn’t that make it a sunken ship? It’s not in the bottom any more, but still, it has been sunken 🤔 Maybe it was desunken?

Anyways, I thought it might come in handy around Saimaa! More useful than one in the bottom of lake Näsijärvi!

As you may notice, I’ve been waiting for this and chose the ship in advance too :)

BTW Grey the Finnish is all correct

Oh, I don't see any problem with the choice! It's fine, and a nice ship. As a matter of fact it's so nice that people decided to give it a second chance! So you chose well.

And yes, desunken fits better than unsunken. :)

Wow, those people that programed Google Translate are my knowledge of Finnish is brilliant!

(it's still a long time in the future, but all this reminds me to start a search for sunken ships... I'm sure there are a few close to my airport/seaport...)

In actual naval lingo, such a ship has been "raised", the superordinate concept being "salvaged". Of course, some might prefer terms like "REsink ready" ... >:D
