Our comic of the month for November is Erma. Discuss it with other forumites here!
first i was like "oh, if only there was a way to record the way i say them to demonstrate" and then i remembered vocaroo exists, so here's my take on the names. again, i'm not sure about the finns and reynir but it can't be TOO wrong, can it(also i don't have a proper microphone so the quality is terrible but whatever)
You can come visit me and then she can come here too and we can all run around Ottawa and eat beavertails and poutine! And then we can all go to iceland and show up randomly at laufey's house with cake or something \o/
BUT THENI SAWtHE AIRPORT MAGAZINE
*Just notices that Laufey is fine with the idea of three persons invading her house*
Well, I definitely have a better handle on it now than I did last night, so thank you!
That was pretty good! Tuuri was the only one mispronounced (Finnish U is more open, like the oo sound in "look") but all the others sounded right. Also fun to hear how Sigrun's name is actually supposed to be pronounced, I tend to pronounce it like the Icelandic Sigrún which is not quite right, I now know.
BAM Laufey dressed to the nines downtown Reykjavík. I can't even remember when the photo was taken so it must have been aaaages ago.

And yes we are coming to invade your house. We can watch hockey and eat cake.

I'm amused and think it's wonderful to have a Moomin house.
Interrupting your regularly scheduled discussion for a short PSA to US-Americans. I just found this somewhat creepy website while browsing, it's essentially a wide open phone book that lists your age, relatives, current and past addresses, everything that can be gleaned from public and online records. I tested with the few American minnions whose full names I know and yes, you're on there. In case anyone finds that as creepy as I do, this tumblr post has instructions on how to remove yourself from the search.
And knit. And write. Errr. And visit Iceland !
So far the cake and visiting Iceland win over hockey, writing, and knitting.
