I've never actually had an energy drink. I wonder what would happen if I tried it....
I know of two sorts, sugar(s) + stimulant(s), like
Red Bull, or mega-vitamin drinks, like
5-Hour Energy. Having read fairly dire things about the caffeine and especially the gaurana in such drinks, I went with the 5-Hr. Sort of.

I tried about one half. It effectively got me through the post-lunch lethargy with no ill effects. Almost a year after I stopped even occasional use, my doctor has me taking the same amount of B12 as a full bottle, since I turned out to have a deficiency. It's less scary to me now.
