I can't say whether I think that is amazing or bizarre.  But I find it hilarious

Strange moment today; seeing Princess Zelda step out from a tram.

(Here's a picture of another cosplayer for reference),

The Princess I saw didn't have the Sheikah Slate, but apart from that, she was a close match for Disharmonica (the cosplayer in the picture).

Letting everyone know that we are okay so far in the general mess of floods and heavy rain. Water came as high as our front doorstep on Saturday but didn’t come into the house this time - the diversionary work I have put into the front garden seems to be helping to divert the water down the sides of the house and onto the steeper slopes of the back garden so far, and hopefully down the hill and into the river.  Wish I could say as well for my kin in Central Victoria, Melbourne, East Gippsland and around Lismore.

Hope everyone else is keeping safe!

Here in Victoria, the heavy rain did the most harm in the countryside; the storm front bypassed Melbourne for the most part. A Facebook contact posted images of the swollen and overflowing creeks around their home, though they suffered no major harm.

Next week will be clear from Monday through Wednesday, but then the rain should set in again; Friday through Sunday will be progressively wetter (up to 20 mm expected on Sunday). Do'kha.

A walk beside the local creek this afternoon brought to light how much the rains had swollen it... perhaps three or four metres; railings were choked with weeds and grass and trees had their branches filled with all sorts of junk.

Could be worse - last time I saw the aftermath of such flooding (in a locality you may know, Yastreb, between Angel’s farm and Neil’s farm, some way east of where Jack lived in East Gippsland, years ago) there was a drowned cow stuck high enough up in a tree that the SES folk had to bring in a crane from one of the nearby mines to get it down. Can just imagine how it would have smelled in a month if they hadn’t been able to remove it! Fortunately both farms were far enough up into the foothills to be safe, though the valley between them was rather thoroughly destroyed. Part of the flooding was runoff from the Snowy, with  more water coming in from up towards the Thompson catchment. So very cold too.

Another bad storm last night. We are still okay, though we have a small tree and several large branches down in the garden. The towns immediately north and west of us have had worse flooding, and there has been one death on a farm near Morgan, northeast of here, from a lightning strike - a farmer out in a field. At least we still have electricity. But the whole thing is a worry. I’ve lived through worse, in Gippsland and FNQ and the Northern Territory, but back then I was decades less decrepit and didn’t have a disabled partner to keep safe. Still, we deal with what we have.

Last Saturday was supposed to bring torrential rain; our neighbour told us they'd made preparations to secure her business against flooding. As it turned out, nothing like the predicted 20 millimetres of rain showed up in the suburbs.

Tomorrow and Tuesday have forecasts of up to 15 millimetres. Well, we'll see.

Good luck Yastreb, and keep safe. Where you are should be safe enough, but Melbourne weather is being weird even for Melbourne weather - I’m sure you know the saying about it: ‘Experience all five seasons in one day’. Hope you have a cat cage in case you have to evacuate and take Fortitude.
