Lost a family friend last week (right at the start of my trip to vermont for work). I'm taking it a lot better than my best friend due to the manner in which he passed being almost the exact same circumstances as the way his dad had passed when he was a kid (stress induced heart attack).. regardless kinda feel a little down right now.
That said, because it was a working trip, I didn't actually get to explore vermont until friday and only made a single trip. Cabot annex (which also included the smuggler's notch distillery gift shop). Did a taste test, here are the results and my opinions.
SND:
SND Vodka: smooth vodka, would make for great home-made vanilla.
SND Bourbon: I don't normally drink bourbon so I have no frame of reference. it was fairly smooth with a mild kick to it.
SND MAPLE Bourbon: Same as above, with a hint of sweetness and maple.
SND Rum: really smooth for an unspiced rum, 10/10 would buy.
SND maple rum: sadly they had none available.
SND 3 years aged in a boubon cask Maple Syrup: If you ever find yourself in this part of the world, try this and buy a bottle... and no it's not for drinking. it's pancakes, toast, waffles, ice cream etc.
Cabot:
Habenero cheddar: yeah I went for this first. Very good, much warm, wow.
Pepperjack: pretty good.
Herbed cheddar: I don't know what herbs... I didn't ask, probably oregano and thyme. tasted good.
Sharp/sharplight/lightsharp: all were kinda cheddary.
Scottish traditional cheddar: Very sharp, would use in a mix with one of the lighter cheddars in mac-n-cheese
Tomato herb cheddar: alright. not bad.
But yeah, this is pretty much my trip to vermont last week, started with tragedy, then I spent most of it in meetings and I capped it off with cheese and spirits.
