Last weird thing my cats brought in was a feral guinea pig. There are lots of them around here, and since they are big and comparatively slow, the cats get them now and then. I wish they would concentrate on rodents - we have a mouse plague building up at present.

Time to learn to cook cuy.
Keep an eye on me. I shimmer on horizons.

I've eaten cuy, it's delicious roasted, a little like rabbit, or maybe like hedgehog but not as fatty. I know how to cook it, but am uneasy eating the local ones until I know what parasites they have, though I might try a young healthy one, well cooked, at some point.

An in today's episode of "my cats bring strange things home", I woke up to find a young dead rabbit in the house.
My cat did that once, but he brought it to my mom who freaked out so he ran around the entire house, and eventually ended up under the bed with it. It was a interesting morning.

Mylor English Ale is tomorrow, if any of the SA Minnions want to catch up. I'll be free from about lunchtime, once my morning meeting is over, and for once I'm not part of the show, so I will be spectating and enjoying the spectacle, watching the Morris dancers and the music. And the Punch and Judy show, and the twilight parade with mummers and guisers and giants (the traditional English kind, not the SSSS kind). Not to mention the fire marionettes and the Gurt Mucking Bonfire. If you turn up there, I'll be around the hall or the oval, look for a stumpy old lady with braids and a staff - I look like a slightly more battered version of my profile pic!

My dog did that once. There was a rabbit nest under the porch and she came in with a baby in her mouth. She never tried to eat it but it died of shock :-\

Went on a lovely walk in Carkeek Park (maybe 2-3 miles roundtrip, a couple hundred feet elevation loss and then gain to return to entry point) today with a friend of mine from suburban New York. He was not expecting hiking and was unpleasantly surprised. I hope he's ok, it really did a number on him :\

Mate of mine lives two stops away from the station nearest to where it all went down, but she's fine. Everyone else I know are doing alright in this trying time, and I hope the same can be said for everyone else on the forum.

Yeah, Manchester was the nearest city to where I grew up and I've a lot of friends living there :-\ so I've been pretty worried since it happened. Mostly everyone is accounted for now, but it's still awful. It was really heartening to see the community coming together however, with people offering up their homes, and taxis giving free rides, as well as lots of people offering to donate blood. I'm glad that there are so many good people still  :)

It's a miserable thing to happen. I have kin and friends in the area, all ok. And yeah, it's good to see the Brits reacting well to this, offering comfort and help. One bright spot amid the awfulness.
