Is a personality cult starting here ? Woah, woah....
Luth: in the first tier, Macron, Le Pen, Mélenchon, Fillon (in this order) each got +-20% of the valid votes, the remainder spread between the seven other candidates.
In the second tier, the proportion was roughly 2/3 vs 1/3. Good news. The abstention was about 25%, unusually high for the second tier of presidential election (the second highest rate since the beginning of the Vth Republic). Meaningful and worrisome news. Out of the voters, some 10% chose to vote "white" or "blank" (what is the English word for this "I don't like any proposal" vote ?).
This means that slightly less than 50% of the electors voted Macron. Not very good news for him. And also that about one quarter of the electors supported Le Pen, either out of genuine support or out of disappointment of seeing their initial choice discarded. I don't like that last piece of news, at all.
