I wonder what Sigrun would think of taking orders from a flightless bird? :D
Maybe the fact that she's not redesigning the expedition into a rescue mission to the zoo of Edinburgh provides a hint ...

All that I wanted was a quiet place to work. But thanks to the evil air conditioning I'm still exiled from my office (it is so cold in there I literally cannot concentrate), and with all of the undergrads coming in my usual haunt is now packed with people, so I went to sit in what looked like a quiet little niche in my department building, only to have a full marching band start playing outside. Why.

Is this Lalli?

That is most definitely Lalli. I can picture somebody (like maybe Reynir... Thinking recent pages) reaching out to touch him in some way and him just kinda flopping over and away from them and hoping they get the message. XD

Preparing a talk for tomorrow while watching The Matrix on my hotel TV, because this is just one of those days where I cannot focus on work unless I periodically let myself have some silly thing in return. Anyway, I've learned that I now can't stop snickering whenever I see Hugo Weaving in anything, because my automatic reaction is apparently "Hey, it's Agent Smith--but it's Elrond--but it's Agent Smith!" And my brain cannot cope with the dissonance.

Here's some headcanon for you then.

LOTR was an earlier version of the matrix, that versions "one" was Sauron and all we saw was from the perspective of the machines.

Oh. My. GODS.

And now he's on the lecture about how sick he is of being in the Matrix, and I cannot unsee this now. No wonder he wants out so badly if he's been there since Sauron's day! :'D

Pleeeeeeeaaaaaase tell me you're intending to write this crossover. :'D

*snerk*

Then, after everything that happened in LotR, the elves Agents gathered for a conference in The Undying Lands the machines' mainframe, and demanded some modern technology to do their job. Thus Middle Earth ended and a new era began.

The First and Second Ages would have to be earlier versions of the Matrix as well. Morgoth was obviously a rebellious program who encouraged the humans to revolt, resulting in mass reboot - Beleriand couldn't be restored from backup and so "fell into the sea".

In the Second Age the machines experimented with keeping some humans happy in a proto-Zion named Numenor. The experiment failed when the One (as we've established, Sauron) emerged and infiltrated it.

Yes! And when the elves leave middle earth to go back to Valinor that's them waking up from the matrix? But if they're the machines that wouldn't work... Hmm :?
