aRE WE TALKING ABOUT DINOSAURS BECAUSE I HAVE THINGS TO SAY
OK SO. Velociraptors were actually about turkey-sized (sorry), but this means that they could possibly FLY A LITTLE BIT, like chickens can, and they also used their wings for stability while eating their prey alive. Also Tyrannosaurs probably had little fluffy downy feathers all over, and were significantly tubbier than people used to think, which is an Excellent and Adorable development. And just generally these murderturkeys were pretty great.
*steps down from soapbox*

And, uh, good luck on getting the job, Vi!
That's pretty awesome.  :D Tubby fuzzy-feathered tyrannosaurus, YES. I definitely approve of the word murderturkeys.
And good luck, Feartheviolas!

On the subject of reconstructing dinosaurs, there was a book a while back that reconstructed modern animals from skeletons using the same methods that have been used for the dinos. The results are... um...

Closer to (my) home, even! Chickens' feet, especially roosters', are also very very theropody. Did you hear about that study where they raised chicks with weights stuck to their butts to simulate meat tails and they made teeny tiny t rex prints? <333

Same here. Live long enough and you start rolling with the paleontological punches!

Now that's an attitude I'd like to see more of! *looks warily at crowds of people still throwing tantrums because Pluto got demoted*

Don't get me started on Pluto! If you want Pluto, then you have to have Ceres and then Eris and Sedna and whatever the heck else they find out there. No exceptions!

* Ana Nymus for one would welcome Ceres into the planetary family. :P
Mostly kidding. But dwarf planets as they are don't get enough love anyway, so maybe just that instead.

Come up with a mnemonic for that, dear people who won't stop complaining that you lost your Nine Pies. :D

Also, here's an idea I've been batting around with myself for a while: I've seen fic exchanges, and I've seen art swaps, but would anyone here be interested in a fic-for-art/art-for-fic exchange thread? It could be a fun thing to try - "If you draw this for me, I'll write that for you," or something of that nature.

I'd be interested! Though I'd be in a weird "uh...I can do art or fic" kind of place, heh.

Somehow I think that would be grounds for welcoming you rather than banning you. ;)

I could art! Just don't make me write ::)

And I can write... but my drawing proficiency basically amounts to stick figures.

It could be a fun thing to try - "If you draw this for me, I'll write that for you," or something of that nature.

We could also set something up where a bunch of people write and a bunch of people draw, then switch and the drawers have to draw the writing and the writers have to write the drawing.
