Quick preview of gwenno's colorized photo. I decided to start over from the ground up because the way it was looking was destroying my calm, so rather than salvage a disaster (in my eyes) I removed all the original layers and started over.



Much better than how it was looking, though I don't have an example of what it previously looked like.

Lis always wanted to wear a pretty dress, but never found the means to make herself one (if you look into her sketchbook you'll find lots of drawings of herself in gorgeous Elie Saab'esque gowns). You know, cloth was meant to be used in useful and important things, not wasted in stupid dresses.
Any appeal she could've seen in an uniform vanished the first day she tried hers... boring and ill-fitting (she thought "Maaaaan, this sh*t is f*ckin' ugly, I look like a freakin' killer whale!"). Anyway, years away from that day, she recognizes her mechanic's uniform to be pretty comfortable and even some days she finds it lovely.

This makes me wonder whether they'd have some kind of formal dress party after coming back from a successful mission!

Oh, gosh! There was quite an influx of new self-inserts these past few days. Hello to you all!

Here's my falconer gal in one of her rare bouts of melancholy. Understandable though, since she's homesick and about to head out on a long expedition.



Also, I think I have a nickname for her now! Ari, which means, eagle (I think. Is the Nordic Names wiki a reliable source?). When she's around strangers she doesn't feel comfortable using the "foreign" one her parents gave her. But more on that later! There's a lot that I want to share about Ari, but I want it to happen through interactions with other characters rather than just telling it outright.

As for the Nordic names wiki: I took a quick look at the Swedish names and there's a lot that I've never seen before and that don't sound remotely Swedish. I clicked at a random one and apparently there's 7 people in Sweden with that name, so I presume it lists all/most of the names registered in each country.

There's always http://www.behindthename.com/, where you can also select a specific country, but it lists the origin of the name as well. I find it a lot more reliable.

Hmm, noted! Is there a reliable place where I can find Icelandic names, or just Scandinavian names in general? If Ari isn't a remotely accurate name, I don't want to offend anyone.

How about Arna? It means "eagle" - or if you'd like a name based on some other bird I've got Nöfn Íslendinga (= Names of Icelanders, a list of all Icelandic names and their meanings) right here!

Cool, thanks! Ari is confirmed as an Icelandic name but it seems to be for males WHOOPS. Maybe she didn't realize this when she chose the name but it kind of stuck because she is a falconer??? I'm not sure anymore.
