I’m not sure where I’m going with this since I can’t draw for toffee, but I figured I might as well jump on the bandwagon while I can!
- Having spent his whole life in the safe lands of Mora, Julian is your average arrogant Swede. He firmly believes in the excellence of Swedish engineering, military tactics, culture – you name it, the Swedes are the best at it, whatever those idiots in Iceland say.
- This might have something to do with the Nordic Council constantly denying his lab funding in favour of the mage academy in Reykjavik.
- He has had a part to play in a number of projects at the laboratory complex where he works. These include: an advanced reactive armour system for the new Dalahästen-II train (that never got built), a hotter-burning flamethrower fuel for the cleansers (that nearly killed three people), a project to enhance the energy density of battery tech (that fries every circuit they hook it up to), and a series of initiatives to synthesise medicinal biomolecules from wood pulp (which didn’t work). Noticing a pattern here?
- Perhaps because he’s never met a live one that wasn’t contained behind six centimetres of armoured glass, he’s fascinated with trolls and the infected in general. He’s recently been making some worrying noises about how useful the Rash’s mutagenic abilities would be if it could be harnessed somehow, which have earned him some very hard stares from his supervisors. He applied to work at the same lab that Siv worked at once, but they semi-politely turned him down.
- Because of his litany of academic failure, he’s always on the lookout to make a quick kronor or two out of his work any way he can. Hasn’t found one yet, but the hunt continues. [But what’s this – a second expedition he can ride the coattails of? *scurries off to the Squad Organisation thread*]
- He’s still very low down on the academic food chain but has his sights set firmly on the top – where he hopes, if he ever gets there, he can turn the tables on those Odin-fearing, Edda-thumping snobs in Reykjavik and get their funding cut for a change.
- Socially, he’s quite shy but fairly friendly and talkative once you get to know him. He’s also prone to cursing a lot when things go wrong, or even when they don’t, often switching to the dead language of English to do so (a habit he learned from his grandfather). Suffers from mild neuroticism and can be a bit of a control freak, and often needs someone to tell him to calm down.
- Don’t give him more than one cup of coffee a day. No-one’s quite sure what happens when you do, but everyone’s sure they don’t want it to happen again.
Oh gosh, we need to keep this guy so very,
very far away from Mikkel.

... Texas ... is a mystique closely approximating a religion. And this is true to the extent that people either passionately love Texas or passionately hate it....
