I haven't been able to visit or post on the forum much over the last week and a bit, which is a crying shame. So much amazing stuff has been posted recently!

Hellooo do you remember when I made inky-wonky headshots of all the current OCs wayyy back on page 13 of this thread?
I may not be able to keep my promise of drawing everyone for all of the future
BUT I CAN STILL TRY

inky-wonky headshots, ROUND 2

My apologies to
- anyone I didn't get quite right look-wise (particularly those with darker skin, I'm so sorry :c)
- victims of slight inking mishaps
- anyone I might have missed (PLEASE TELL ME IF I DID)

but otherwise, enjoy!

Don't feel obligated to draw me back, gods know I've been drawn enough as is - SPEAKING OF.  Several of you have in fact drawn me already, I'm especially talking about you who drew my OC fullbody and some even in colour:
Noodly, Gwenno, Vafhudr, Oh Deer, SolarPoweredGirl (.....as a cat....), frenci, BarbaryLion22, and Laufey are the names I wrote down but I might have missed someone.
QUESTION: do you want to make it into a proper art trade? I don't feel like my quick headshots are really worthy the art you have made of me, so I'm more than willing to make some Extra Effortsy art of you guys. (Well, I've drawn Laufeytroll a few times so I guess you're good, but still)

as for art trades in general, I'm opening up shop again!! Unlos is up next, and I will probably message Piney and RedCloud pretty soon!! But if anyone else wants one, attempt contact and I will gladly neglect responsibilities for your sake!

Cries because ohmigosh it's meee (or my character I guess) She definitely looks like she's planning something... I wonder what it is. That sneaky side-glance is actually something I do quite often... how did you know? ;)

Haiz, these are incredible!

What I particularly like is how you capture a wide range of face structures, eye shapes, expressions, etc., even within the constraints of your (very pretty) sketching style.

Even some well-established cartoonists fall into a rut of giving all their people more or less the same face (cf. Gary Trudeau, author of the award-winning "Doonesbury," with his trademark pointy noses and circles under the eyes).  So when you can depict all of us (mostly female, mostly Caucasian, and the majority ages 15 to 25) so differently -- kudos!

Have you ever considered a part-time job as a caricature artist?  I don't know if it's a thing in Norway, but at parties, fairs, and resort areas it's common to have someone drawing cute cartoons of attendees -- either hired by the hosts or running their own little business.

Piney, you too -- and quite a few other artists on this thread.  (Of course, I have no idea what a business license, taxes, etc. would entail...)

I am game, though I feel a bit bad for kind of putting in you in that situation. It was not my intention to initiate a reciprocation escalation - so yes, let's make it a formal art trade.

but otherwise, enjoy!

It is so much fun to watch the different sssonas being recognizable in the respective artists style. And hurra, art trade! I'm working on yours, trying to understand anatomy (and expressions! What I've done most, have been self-portraits with pencil, so cartoon-style and poses is not internalized, to say the least) and photoshop better. And it's fun, I'm looking forward to getting it finished!

So much personality. They are all amazing!

Some names seem to be very popular. There's Marja, Marie, Marie, another Clara (and a Lara).

ahahha I didn't mean to make your smile so smirky, that was one of the slight inking mishaps I mentioned.... but I'm glad it fits after all! You're welcomee

Aahhh thank you!! I'm actually surprised people find I've drawn them so diverse, because it doesn't feel that way to me? But oh, I do like character design diversity so SUCCESS.
HMMMM i really doubt I would get a job as a caricature artist, I think they mostly work in the newspaper business, but that would be a pretty fun job..... problem with Norway is that with a population this small, the need for fancy fun jobs is much smaller than other places, I guess. MAYBE. i dont know i'm kind of in a ditch when it comes to jobs and future talk ahahahaha ha ha

EDIT: my dream job would be working with cartoons or concept art/character designs so I FEEL LIKE I HAVE POTENTIAL HERE, but i probably will have to move outta norway to have any opportunity for that kinda thing.....

Ahh thanks!! And don't worry, I'm sure I will come around to throw good ol' accordion noise down some stairs again, or other hilarious accidents that might befall it......... hee hee

Yesssssssss. I like Alexis' expression most of all? IRL I am always instigating fights so the "FIGHT ME" expression fits.(and she is smirking which also fits)
Ahahah yayy!!! I'm quite pleased with how Alexis' expression turned out. I think your username "KicknRun" gave me a good hint as to what kind of expression would grace your countenance

I am game, though I feel a bit bad for kind of putting in you in that situation. It was not my intention to initiate a reciprocation escalation - so yes, let's make it a formal art trade.
AHhh don't worry, I kind of already wanted to draw your 'sona in full figure spear and all, so SUCCESS

ALSO THANK yOU TO OTHER COMMENTERS that happened while I wrote this, gosh

I hear ya.  The market for full-time, professional cartoonists/caricature artists isn't much better in the U.S.  I just meant as a part-time gig, kind of like musicians busking.

In the Wealthy Quasi-Socialist Paradise Known As Norway, would it be possible for you, some nice summer holiday weekend, to just set up an easel and chair on a well-frequented boardwalk with a poster: "SKETCHES WHILE-U-WAIT.  80 Kr/one person; 100 Kr/couple"?  Your drawings here would actually make good work samples, especially if you could convince a couple of us to share photos that shoppers could compare with your sketches.

Or would the Norwegian government swoop down and demand that you incorporate as a business, file a tax statement, pay 1,000 Kr for a business license, or what-have-you?  (Imagines Haiz as a hit-and-run pirate sketch artist in a burglar's mask, with lookout around the corner making hand signals, "Scram, it's the cops!!!")

Thank u Curry!!!! idk about ink skills, just. find some ink and some fancy pen nibs and just. dO THINGS ON THE PAPER??
(I have so many nibs but I only really use one or two of them. Most often the weird curved one currently attached to the pen,, I don't even know where they can be bought. It was among mom's bought-super-cheaply-in-communist-czechoslovakia stash, like the majority of art supplies I use.....)

I'm not gonna elaborate on the instinctive contempt i feel for street caricature artists, well ok not contempt, but it feels like such...... tourist kitsch. Ok wow I'm sounding awfully elitist here. bold words from someone who can't get a summer job......
I've actually never ever seen a caricature artist on the streets of Trondheim (it's a tourist city but not tourist enough for that), and besides, I would have to compete with our beggars and street musicians for the spots..... There are probably some street artists over in Oslo, but I'd probably have much better luck in, say, Prague.

nooooo don't ask me about law and economy stuff or adult words like "tax" or "license" I'll just start crying because I literally don't know how any of these things work

Edit: not sure what you mean by "quasi-socialist". are you implying we're not bordering on communism as some countries would have you believe

Oh.  Ooops.  Didn't realize you 1) already knew about street caricature artists and 2) felt "instinctive contempt" for "tourist kitsch."  Yeah, it is kitsch, I suppose.  OTOH, it's authentic artwork, and it makes people happy by helping them capture a moment.  And it helps you by bringing in money via your artistic skills (as opposed to, say, scooping ice cream).

Also, I didn't mean to scare you by mentioning permits and the like.  I used to be a newspaper reporter covering local government and business (among other things) so it's a casual question for me.

BTW, 5 minutes' search on Google got me the legal requirements for street performers/artists throughout the U.S.  If I knew how to say "regulations affecting street performers" in Norwegian, I'd have an answer for you.  If you ever actually wanted one.  (See how accurate my self-insert is?   ;)  "More information than you require.")
