I don't know if you read YA fantasy novels at all, but the Graceling books by Kristin Cashore are pretty great. Two of the female protagonists decide they don't want to have children, and it made me really happy to see that. (I went to a lecture the author did and she said she's had girls come up to her and say "I didn't know that was an option! Thank you for writing this book!") She also addresses the issue of female characters actually, y'know, having their periods and having to deal with that while running around in a medieval setting. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it in case it was something that would interest you.
