It is a kiss.  The thickest area in the middle is light falling upon a closed eye, eyelashes, and the top of the cheekbone, ending where the other person's nose crosses theirs.  Does that help?

Thank you, Wavewright and Róisín! As Grade E cat quite correctly pointed out, the person on the right is definitely Tuuri, whereas the other was meant to be Sigrun - but the angle of the little light that is made it pretty hard to make her recognizable. Now it is up to the viewer to interpret who it is, I think.

And Miriam, this picture was inspired by a painting that hung on the wall in my friends house - for a long time I saw only an abstract orange shape on a dark blue background until one day something clicked and it resolved into a portrait of a person, the orange being the highlights on forehead, eyelids, cheek and mouth. So I can well understand that this it not easily recognizable as anything! But as Wavewright said, it is a kiss.

Good, since I didn't mean to offend you. If I tilt my head to the right and try hard then I'm able to recognise most of it now, thanks to Waveright's explanation.

I have not visited this thread since November!!  O_O  O_O  O_O

So much amazing art, and in particular...

And I hope it's not too early to post fanart inspired by the advent calendar thread? Purple Wyrm this one's for you!

"A vision swam before Mikkel’s eyes. An army of crazed Norwegians descending from the mountains with golf clubs in hand, raining destruction on the lands below."

This is great Windy! ;D Thank you so much, and sorry if my absence from the thread gave the impression I didn't like it! It's perfect!  :'D

I like it.  It's been pointed out that there are *no* artworks (including all of your Renaissance masters) that portray wings on humans (or angels that look like them) that could actually work physically to fly a human.  Something about load bearing and ligaments etc.  So rejoice in the creation instead, perhaps.

Finally finished the Winter OlympicSSSS series (at least the athletes  ;) )

Lalli would of course leave everyone behind and Sigrun is most best, but the others... well, it's the participating that counts.

biathlonist Lalli

ski jumper Sigrun

short track speed skater Reynir

figure skater Emil

curling player Mikkel

luger Tuuri

I love the Olympians, Helia!
I agree, Lalli would leave all other biathletes in his dust (neat trick in the Winter, but, hey, he's that awesome), but I wouldn't discount Mikkel at curling - if he has better control with a rock than he has with swinging an iron bar....

Helia, these are amazing most best arts :D The sports you chose fit them all and they are very well drawn. And of course, it's great to have an opportunity to put the team in (mostly) form-fitting suits :D
