An experiment of sorts - I took an old book illustration, scanned it and tried to colour it with the help of a bazillion Multiply layers in Photoshop:Original lineart.The colouring is pretty crude, I think, but it turned out to be okayish.
Spoiler: Stayed up late till 2:30 AM making this. Time well spent, I think! showDrawing real-life objects is not a particularly glamorous task, but it helps develop digital painting skills....and it looks like I screwed up the ellipses despite my best attempts at making them right. Gah!
Wow, that does look really good. The lighting, shadows, and reflections give it a photo-realistic look. I actually thought it was 3D art at first.
