It's based off the tv show Steven Universe, which involves a lot of gemstone-based aliens (Hence the gemsonas). I really enjoy the show: it's much deeper and deals with more adult topics then you'd ever expect from a cartoon.
Ah! I think I've heard about that one :D *goes to check it out*

Thank you all! To those asking about weapon/unfused gems, here they are (under a spoiler because wonky 4-month old art)
Spoiler: show

Unfused gems (me on left, freddie on right) with weapons

Jet concept + rAD WEAPON YELL HEAH

Corundum (pictured below) concept + highly ineffective weapon

I actually did another one to get more used to painting and such and I like it a lot more :0

This time it's Corundum, a fusion between m-ew's oc Sunstone and my orange cat's eye :0 They're a very confident gem with (obviously) lots of good looks, but they really aren't the strongest or most skilled fighter. Hey at least Sunstone's arms are really muscular right?? Just punch it, it's the same difference
Oh~ all of these designs are so neat :D Do they get more arms when they fuse with each other? :o

Eagerly waiting since November 2014:  :chap5: :chap6: :chap7: :chap8: :chap9: :chap10: :chap11: :chap12: :chap13: :chap14: :chap15: :chap16: :chap17: :chap18: :chap19: :chap20: :chap21: :A2chap01: :A2chap02:

welp, I finished some stuff:

previously i sucked at doing any kind of a background, now i think I suck a little less :D tho I still don't know what to put on the background of a portrait. What does one put on the background of some random person's face? I just don't know. Oh well.

Also, more is coming, I'm intending to redraw a thing I drew for a friend some years ago, here's that thing(btw goes perfectly with the recent pics of people with lots of arms, Curry, those are awesome as hell):

jesus christ it's been a long time since I last did traditional art, this lady's from the ancient times when I didn't own a tablet :D well, we'll see what we get from this.

Because be honest, the Islamic Golden Age can be a great inspiration for a fantasy setting.

Just caught up to reading this thread, I haven't checked it in months *shame*. Blanket appreciation to every person who posted here: its not always easy to put yourself out there for the judgement of others. But we are such a lovely community, I don't see how anyone could get hurt.  :)  I'm thinking I'll share some of my stuff too, just to add to the growing pile of art and stroke my own ego.

piney's oc is very cute and i have so many questions???!???

"the only person in his world with superpowers"
hmmmm
sure
sure

what was he like as a kid?? i mean from what i've seen of him he already is a kid. but like. kid.

does anybody know he has powers?????

why is he a superhero when there are no superheroes around
i bet he was inspired by comic books

"he doesn't really need a costume"
hmmmmmmmm
hmmmmmm

hm

is having white hair common or just no one bats an eye
(unless he just has really fair hair)

okay, slightly excited babbling done, heres the art thingy
and since i need to have two versions of everything, here goes.

i guess he's seeing something that needs superheroing right now

heres the "fireaplaca has no texture brushes but i tried" version

heres the "i give up, convert it to psd and open it in gimp" version

how do you draw glass
gimp happened to have a handy dandy fire brush that is good for lazy people.

i managed to upload this to tumblr yay

bonus: sketches of me trying to figure out how your oc looked
Spoiler: show

Eeeee thank you Kick!!! ^v^ Your drawings are also very cute! Drawing this particular OC is the easiest way to my heart

but also hahahahaha

"the only person in his world with superpowers"
hmmmm
sure
sure

This takes place in an otherwise completely normal pseudo-New York, so yeah, absolutely sure. B) (Well, at least the only superpowered person in America.)

Quote
what was he like as a kid?? i mean from what i've seen of him he already is a kid. but like. kid.

His powers weren't fully-fledged yet, if that's what you mean. Also he's supposed to be 22 but I guess some people still consider that kid age, ahaha

Quote
does anybody know he has powers?? ?? ?

His dad does. (outside of random people who learn throughout the course of the story)

Quote
why is he a superhero when there are no superheroes around

I can't answer that question because of backstory reasons :-X

Quote
"he doesn't really need a costume"
hmmmmmmmm
hmmmmmm

hm

Well I mean, what superhero actually does need a costume? Like if I saw a dude wearing tights and a mask and stuff, I'd be all "? ?? ??"

Quote
is having white hair common or just no one bats an eye
(unless he just has really fair hair)

No to both, but I also can't answer that for backstory reasons :-X
