Just keep in mind that some of these colours will be hard to see if you reduce the resolution. Something like this:

 

country-flags are 16px high, and smileys 15px

If you make them 16 px high they will also be 60 pixels wide unless the shape is altered.

By the time we get to chapter 20 that's going to be a lot of pixels.

I don't know how high you made your small ones... I'd say there's some wiggle-room in terms of proportion, but not too much

also, they're actually 11px high (or 12 for some like Spain), and 16px wide. I stand corrected. That makes for medals that are ~40px wide, right?

once we reach chapter 20, I think we'll need "book medals" to condense all the breaks of one tome in a single image anyway, otherwise it'd be too big and not fit in signatures (both for image-size and text-length )

The problem with book ribbons is that some people will miss certain chapters because they discovered the comic mid-book (me for instance).

On a tangential note, maybe those who also followed aRTD before it finished can get a special ribbon, with a superimposed icon for those who followed it from the start.

This reminds me of the ribbons you see in siglines over on the Kerbal Space Program forum that show people what planets they have visited in the game.

I like this idea. You could just put the Book One flag and then put the separate chapters in parentheses for clarification on when you showed up. If someone has just the book, you could assume that they've been reading since the beginning.

I did some colors for the rest of them and an altered design for the Book 2 chapters. Let me know what you think.

Wow, I love these! My only concern is that the very narrow bands of color would be hard to see when they are shrunk down really small. They might show up better if they were a bit wider.
