Is dragon the same as estragon/tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus)? It’s a herb I greatly enjoy but not everyone does.

I thought it may have been that also.  Love it on seafood.  It is the herb I use if I am making Chicken Kiev.

I think some people may not like the anise aftertaste of it

Hard to say when our only information is that the Finnish term does not translate to "dragon". 8)

As a guess, however: According to transgarble, the Finnish "rakuuna" translates to both "tarragon" and "dragoon" in English. The latter being named after some kind of "dragon", obviously ...

Not that dragons necessarily are fond of whatever extra spicy condiment you might offer them, mind ... ;)

Oopsie, a multi-language mistake. Yes, I mean tarragon. The little packets of tarragon (we have at least four! Don’t know why.) I have, say Rakuuna - Dragon on top. So, the herb is dragon in Swedish. It didn’t even cross my mind to check, even when I checked marjoram (which I was sure I remembered correctly and I did)… I like tarragon with carrots, and root vegetable soup, so that’s why I wanted to use it, plus it’s a commonly grown herb here.

Dmeck, how sweet! Was the original your first story? One of the first certainly.

Yeah  it is a re-write.  I was never able to get the idea over the way I wanted to.  (Still is meh! on that scale)  I added some to it for the hope prompt.  Hopefully it is better....

... someone in your household preparing for a special meat dish? >:D

(Somewhat more seriously: Identical packets, or could they be distinct variations of the (preprocessed) herb?)

Tarragon is delicious, though to my taste much nicer fresh than dried. It is an Artemisia, one of the family of the wormwoods and mugworts. The specific epithet is dracunculus, meaning  ‘little dragon’. It is interesting how many of the wormwood family of plants have names signifying that they are something to do with wyrms or dragons…..  Many members of the family are medicinal or are used in magic, brewing or medicine. Fascinating plant family.

It is already Thursday (I am working on spicy now...better late than never..)

Maybe leave this week open for what ever someone wants to post and we can pick something for next week.  Work has been weird and I have been weird...

Time for new prompt!

Recently when we had “Tuuri and Reynir” it was a good prompt, so I suggest we could try other combinations every now and then. How about “Mikkel and Lalli” for the next one?

But isn't it Lalli's birthday? Why does he have to share?

Lalli needs a cake (or many considering he likes sugar :) )

Happy birthday, Lalli!

Also not visible: Emil, periodically handing Lalli a new assortment of sweets while eating some himself.
