Thank you! The owl is based on an existing picture (a little modified to include Tuuri) bit there are no decent pictures of medieval lynxes, and especially not ones that appear to stare into your soul while waiting for you to spill your sandwich on yourself. So I had to improvise more, there.

And you are right about the initials! Has anyone asked Minna?

Tehta,
They definitely capture the medieval style and the facial expressions are spot on.

Very nice.  (I do not have such talent )

Though here is a hedgehog

Here is my prompt.  I started a story and realized I was writing more about Emil than Lalli.  (Though I like the idea and am going to try and finish it)

So here is a quickie Lalli

Lalli
Lalli is quietly watching the vermin.  He knows any sound or movement will alert it to his presence.  He needs to dispatch it quickly and quietly.

It is his responsibility to protect his family from such things.

Quietly..quietly..closer..closer BAM!  A successful kill.
Spoiler: show

"MOM!!
"Lalli caught another critter!!"
"Put it in a baggie and take it to the trash. "
"May sure you give treats to Lalli"
"Good Kitty! You protected us from the fearsome beast. Here are some snacks!!"

Lalli,"I do my best.  I am awesome!!" purrrrr..crunch..crunch

That doesn't surprise me. In my mind Emil and Lalli are so connected that's hard to imagine a story with one of them that doesn't include the other.  :lalli: :emil:

And it's one fine quickie! :)

Lovely Capitals indeed!
Although I kinda doubt the alliteration, seeing as how there is not a similar correspondence in Finnish or Swedish.

Spoiler: estonian really is not just like finnish huh • show

I went looking for the Finnish translation of owl, expecting to see something similar to the Estonian 'kull'.  Instead, I'm told it's 'pöllö' which frankly makes me think of 'chicken' in Spanish!  But then the same source also told me the Estonian was 'öökull', which I would process as 'night owl', so ....

Wasn't Onnis luonto specifically said to be an Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo)? If so, it'd apparently avoid the "pöllö" theme and go as "Huuhkaja" instead.

... which sort of jives with Onnis middle name ...

Spoiler: But still • show

I wouldn't want to be the Italian chef trying to sell a traditional "pöllö al matto(ne)" in Finland.

I agree. From drawings of Onni's luonto it looks like a Eurasian eagle-owl

That wikipedia link is pretty cool though Thanks!!

Note that many (very many) of the birds on the list don’t actually live in Finland, I think it lists everything that has been recorded as sighted ever.

I had a problem with a similar list for Iceland when I needed to learn whether one can usually hear the songbird chorus there. There are quite limited species of terrestrial birds there that occur commonly in Iceland but the list threw me off for a bit. Birdlife in Iceland is rich and varied, but largely because of seabirds, there aren’t many passerines there.  :reynir:

Hi! Am I still in time for adding a bit of Lalli?

Now let's imagine that something magic happened, and Lalli, with two of his best friends, will have to travel far away to find the answers...

That is very good.

But also -- blurred for spoiler:

Spoiler: show
very sad, because that tank's going to be abandoned again in the Silent World, inoperable and probably never to be returned for.

Noo thorny!

Spoiler: show
That's what fanfiction (of fanfiction) is for! I can see lots of ways the tank could be reclaimed: the Evil Committee could decide to send another expedition there (I think I had them evilly recruit Lalli to lead them to it in a fic) or the gang could decide they would like one for their own adventures. I am sure someone like Mikkel could learn to fix it. Or maybe some far-off-in-the-future museum would like it (although the tank might hate that, too?)

And grey, WOW. That is absolutely spectacular. What a seamless edit. (Although I really hope that Lalli doesn't plan to wear fur the whole time he is in Africa.)

I think lwise did another story in which one of Mikkel’s little sisters goes on an expedition, along with some of the citizens of Little Copenhagen, a settlement on Bornholm, intending to reclaim the base where the expedition stayed and waited for rescue, as part of an attempt to resettle the Danish mainland. They also reclaim the Tank, and tame a feral dog who turns out to be very useful indeed…..well worth reading!
