29.10. Judgement

"I believe you wished to see the newspaper?" Michael was proffering the mentioned object.

"Yes! I think the critique should be out today!" Victoria quickly turned out the Culture section. "Did you check it already?"
"I would never!"

"Hmm, lessee… 'Strong opening for the Victorious Company's new piece'… 'the Hotchingsons' voices do not let the audience down'… 'new talent apparently self-educated'… they loved it! Another success!"

"Let me see let me see let me see" Lucky stormed into the room. Victoria finished reading and then offered the paper to the much shorter woman.
"So… yeah… superb singing… like transported to another world… costumes yadda yadda… haa! 'Many touching moments throughout'! 'Excitement intensifies towards end of Act 1'… but what's this? 'Many humorous scenes'… 'great secondary characters sometimes steal the show'… 'lighthearted fun'… Fun? Lighthearted? It's a tragedy!" Lucky was staring at the page incredulously.

"The main point is that the paper liked it!"
"The main point is that the critic has completely misunderstood my text! It's a… it's a disaster!"
*It's a total win! The audience loves good entertainment!"
"But… but… my play!"
"Chin up, Brainy. Today we celebrate again! Michael, champagne please!"
"Coming right up."

25.10. Community

Dust. Dust gets everywhere. Dust builds up in the empty hallways and hangs in the air of venues no longer used. We have sealed off several wings of empty space. We don’t have the resources to man it all. It's down to the force fields now, they are all that's keeping us safe. The Tesla coil lies in disrepair (we assume - no one dares touch it). The brewery equipment has lost its sheen.

Yet not all is lost. The Bakery is still in production. The Moose still comes every now and then. Promotion Celebrations still take place on the Main Square, and every now and then the Inner Door opens, and we welcome another one. We have lost many, but we have gained many. And we still do.

New shops are opening on the World and Stories Alley. Some of them are already fairly popular, and we hope to see more. The Creative Corner remains lively, with Haikus traded back and forth and art still gathering crowds. Events Street is currently brightly lit with YoinkTober lanterns, and hopefully it will soon see yet another Yuletide.

We have lost much, but we have gained much. Where there is life, there is hope. The Blanket Fort is the symbol of our hope and our community. Today, again, we dust the used areas, let in the fresh air, and turn on the lights. All are welcome! We have cookies! And cake! And confetti! Not to forget hope.

First I just had the beginning and didn't want to post that. With some time, it brewed this. Maybe there is hope :)

28.10. Made to order
Lalli was cooking. He had been suspicious of the weird pies at first, but he had taken quite a liking to them. He had the pasties ready, and the sauce was spread, and he was starting to lay down the fillings. Emil had once put onion on them, and he had liked it, but Lalli didn't (the onion retained it's consistency, yurgh) so they hadn't done that any more. But now it occurred to Lalli that he was making two pies - he could well put onion on Emil's. After some consideration he made the two pies completely different.

Later, when they were eating, Emil remarked "Thank you Lalli, this is very very good! I thought you didn't like onion in pizza, though."
"I don't, but it's only in yours. As is artichoke."
"Hey, that's a good idea! Thanks for thinking about me."
"I think about you always."
"I know. But you know, this really is a good point. It would be good for cooking for many people. Everyone could get what they want, with no extra work! Someone should make these pizza pies to order!"

This is a bit meh but I mostly wanted to have Lalli cook once in a while - my snippets have tended towards Emil being "a homemaker" in their relationship, and I don't mean that.

wave: the Ása piece is a brilliant gap-filler, and your cat definitely looks like Kitty, with her cheerful dopey face.

Opaque: Another artistic gapfiller with the cat tank! What a pity they did not think to reinforce the mirrors. And as for the butts, I have no issues with them (well, I have written about butts here before) apart maybe from the fact that they are very good butts and I do not expect mine to look anything like that at the time of my death.

Jitter: Oh, artists! It's not enough to enjoy their work, you have to enjoy it in the right way, sigh. And I feel your point about homemakers -- one of the attractions of slash for me is that there is no need to fight against/fall into expected roles, so one can have sun figuring out what works for the couple (as is the case in many RL couples, even het ones). The pizza idea is great, and could be one possible way for Emil to regain his fortune? (Maybe with Lalli coordinating a crack team of fask-delivery scouts.) Finally, the community one... I have not been around long enough to know what this place means to all of you, but it does feel special, and I hope it will continue!

31.10.2021 Costume

The last day! Although I am still missing one entry, for community. Will this thread stay open for a bit, for stragglers?

This story was definitely of the 'inspired' kind, because the concept amuses me immensely. I hope someone else gets a giggle out of it too.
It's 500-ish words dedicated especially to people who think Lalli is super cool, but also to those who are less easily impressed.

Spoiler: show
“First day of school, kids!” shouted Torbjörn up the stairs. “Come on, you don’t want to be late!”

Siv hovered below the stairs, wondering whether she should go up and see what was taking so much time. The moment she had decided that she should, Håkan finally appeared, racing down at breakneck speed. Siv would have chastised him for it, but…

“Håkan, dear,” she asked instead, “what ARE you wearing?”

“I-am-sixteen-I-wear-what-I-want!” Håkan reached the cloakroom, and started to pull on his galoshes.

“Yes, yes, of course,” said Torbjörn, a bit too permissively, in Siv’s opinion, “but what is it?”

“A second-hand fur cloak. It’s part of my new look.”

“But it’s so…” The cloak looked rather moth-eaten, especially around the unseasonal hood, which Håkan had decided to wear up for some reason. “Wait, what new look?”

“Finnish mage-scout! It’s the absolute coolest thing, you know. Everyone will just die when I explain how cool it is.”

Siv sighed. They should have known that sending the kids off to spend the summer with Emil would bear karmic consequences. She was about to say something--her first idea was ‘think of our family’s reputation’, but she quickly realized that this would not work--when Anna joined her brother.

At least her cloak was less shabby. But it was definitely eye-catching, a strange patchwork of assorted furs.

“That’s very… interesting, my treasure,” said Torbjörn. “Are you dressing as a Finnish mage-scout, too?”

“Thanks, I made this myself, out of scraps! Lalli gave them to me, because I can shut up, unlike SOME,” she added, with a glance at Håkan. “But no, I am more of a scout-mage, I think.” As she reached for her boots, Siv could see that she had added fur there, too, in fluffy strips just below the knee. The effect was… well, barbaric was not a nice word to use about another culture. What could Siv say instead, to sway her rebellious children?

“Ah, Sune! Good to see you at last.” Torbjörn sounded relieved. When Siv turned towards their last child, she saw that he, at least, was wearing a pretty ordinary cloak, over a rather plain tunic. Old-fashioned, yes, but nowhere near as bizarre as his siblings. “Are you not interested in dressing like a scout-mage, or a mage-scout, like your brother and sister?”

“No, scouting is boring. All that waiting. I am simply a mage. But just wait till everyone at school gets a load of these!”

Sune plopped himself down on the cloakroom bench and pulled something out from below it. Then, he lifted up one leg and started to pull on the item, which quickly resolved itself into an absurdly shiny thigh-high boot.

“Urk,” said Torbjörn. “Sune, really?”

"I know, they're scouting boots, which is ironic. But aren't they the coolest?” Sune picked up boot number two.

“I think,” said Siv, finally struck by inspiration, “that what your father means to say is that it seems a little unkind to use the Finnish culture as a ‘cool’ costume. How would Lalli feel about this? Have you even asked him?”

The kids exchanged glances.

“I am 99.9% sure that he does not care,” said Anna, tossing back her cloak. “About any of this, on any level. That’s what makes him so super cool.”

“We could ask him, if you like,” added Sune, working the wrinkles out of his boots. “In a letter. It will give me a chance to practice my written Finnish.”

“But we can’t change now,” finished Håkan, brushing some suspiciously pale strands of hair back under his hood. “Or we’ll be late!”

Note: this is part of my continuing revenge against Siv and Torb for how I had them treat Lalli in my fic Future Imperfect. Take that, you two!

Day 31 - Costume - not my first choice to fulfill this prompt (I got too ambitious), but a nice bit of silliness to end the month.  These are from the Miraculous Ladybug TV show, two costumes our protagonists used at different times as a 'clever' disguise.  If you're not familiar with it, it is a show that relies very heavily upon the 'no one recognises the hero out of costume' in their daily lives trope.  These are not their hero costumes as Ladybug and Chat Noir, btw.
Marinette sneaks into a boys-only party as Mario, a super Manly Man with lots of Manly Muscles, and ends up drafted to do a thinly-disguised version of YMCA.  The other is Mr Banana, a recurring character, a television personality whose costume Adrien once had to borrow to fight in.  In both cases, ya kinda hadda be there.
Always a newbie at something

I got inspired! To continue the 'costume' story. I think it counts for community, because there is a community helping the triplets with their teenage rebellion?
Warning: this epistolary tale is a bit longer than my usual, at almost 1k words. But it's the last thing I will post here, apart from reactions to others' content.

Dear Anna, Håkan, and Sune,

I have just received a rather strange letter from your parents. They have asked me to tell you two things:
  • It is not okay to mock the way Lalli dresses by dressing up like him. He will be upset.
  • Magic is not an appropriate hobby for young Swedes.
I would like to say quite a lot on both topics, but I won’t, because I am far from the most qualified person to do so. (Although slightly more qualified than your parents, I think.) I have asked Lalli to reply instead.

Moving on, I am glad that your school year is off to such a good start...

...
...

Love, Your cousin Emil

***

To Sune,

Thank you for the letter in Finnish. I am sending it back with some corrections. It was not bad, but I will reply in Swedish, so you can show this to your siblings. Emil has asked me to write to all of you, on two topics.

First: I do not care what you wear in Mora. The idea that I would is weird.

Secondly: Your parents are right for once. Magic is not a hobby. It is a very serious pursuit which requires a strong connection to the gods. As Swedes, you have no such connection, and I cannot help you find one, since my gods are different from yours. But if you are truly interested, I have some friends I can ask for help.

Be well. And make sure that your new clothes are right for the weather.

Lalli

Dear children with names!

I sort of remember one of you, who made horrible faces at me a few years ago. That one seemed like a proper Viking. So, awesome job, that one!

Anyway. Lalli says you want to learn more about my gods, because they could be yours too. That’s a great idea! We have the best gods, with the best stories. That’s how I learned about them: from the stories told at feasts. Of course, you can’t do that, because Sweden is godless and your fancy restaurants are too boring for loud storytelling. But maybe you will want to visit us here? Do any of you have any troll-killing experience? The Viking one, maybe?

But if you can't, never fear, feasts are not the only way to learn. There are also books about the gods, of which I was given several. I hardly ever read them, except for the dirty bits, so I have no regrets about sending them to you now. Enjoy! (But maybe not too much. How old are you kids, anyway? If you are too young, please avoid the dirty bits. You will recognize them because they are the ones where the books open most easily.)

Gotta go now, there’s a beast attack! Can’t miss that!

Hello Anna, Sune, and Hákon,

Did you know that Hákon is a common horse name in Iceland? Cool, no? Do you have horses in Sweden? What do you call them?

Sorry, I got carried away and forgot to introduce myself: my name is Reynir and I am a very good friend of your cousin Emil! And I heard about you from my other very good friend, Lalli, so you must know him too! It’s very nice to meet friends of friends, isn’t it?

Anyway, I am sending you this surprise letter because Lalli told me that you are interested in magic, and I would love to help! He doesn’t think any of you are mages, but that’s fine! I only found out that I was one when I was twenty. And then nobody wanted to teach me anything, because Finnish magic is so different. (That’s why Lalli can’t help you himself. It’s not that he hates you or anything! It’s easy to misunderstand Finns and think they hate you. I myself like to always assume the best and it’s usually true. Finns are such sweethearts really.) And even later, after I got back to Iceland, I had to teach myself, because the government has such disappointing views on non-immune mages. (I forgot to ask: are any of you immune?) But the good news is: I have taught myself a lot now, and have plenty of notes you could look at if you are interested. Of course, you would have to come to Iceland, first. Do you think you could manage it? You can stay with us at the farm, as long as you help out with the sheep a little.

Your new friend,

Reynir

***

Dear Emil,

Just what did you say to the children?

Håkan got sent back from school today for reciting tales of the Nordic gods at lunch. Highly inappropriate ones, apparently. When we questioned him about this, he said that we don’t understand him but he will be appreciated in Norway. Apparently, he wants to drop out of school to move there!

His siblings laughed at this idea, thankfully, but in other ways they are just as concerning. Sune has been making exceptionally fast progress with his Icelandic, which was a great relief at first (he had been neglecting it, in favour of Finnish, and it is so good for business), until he told us that he is only doing so because he plans to do some sort of sheep-related internship in Iceland next summer. Where did he even get such an idea?

Anna, meanwhile, our sweet Anna… at least she has no surprising plans: all she talks about is visiting you in Finland again, next summer. We were seriously considering letting her do so, until last Saturday, when we found her out in the garden, skinning a squirrel she had apparently trapped herself. She says she needs a squirrel-themed hat for the winter. Can you imagine?

In conclusion, we have a request to make: considering what your last letter led to, please don’t write to the children again until further notice,

Your Uncle Torbjörn and Aunt Siv.

Hi! Again I'm on debt to all of you for not commenting all your awesome works. Sorry. I will try to catch up tomorrow.

Meanwhile, here's another crossover episode, this time featuring Reynir and Mikkel. It will be continued on next episode. Filming of the next episode is already happening in Dubrovnik (where King's Landing scenes were shot). I hope you enjoy it! :)

An Adventure of Fire and Ice

Episode 4 - A Walk on King's Landing

Spoiler: show
The Red Gate's guards sheltered themselves from the rain on small alcoves on both sides of the large iron doors. The main access to the Red Keep was open on daytime, allowing the usually constant movement of people entering and leaving Westero's center of power and decisions. However presently, under the pouring rain and just after lunch time, the place looked empty.
Crossing the gate, Mikkel nodded to one guard, that nodded back on a lazy way, and pulled the ample hood of his black coat over his head. He stood there, under the arch, waiting.
Seconds later Reynir arrived, his crimson coat flapping on the wind. He reached Mikkel and smiled. "So, are we going anyway, even with all this rain?"
"I have to go anyway, Reynir. We are leaving tomorrow, so today is my last chance to find the shop I've been told about, which may hold interesting things. Also I want to make sure all our provisions have been loaded into our ship."
Reynir's eyebrows raised. "You had almost three weeks, Mikkel."
"Some very busy weeks, I assure you. Sigrun had a good part of her time taken with teaching our prince, and since he decided to travel on our ship we had to make some adjustments, as you know."
"I can imagine... Thankfully his dragon is still small, unlike her mother, or so I've heard."
"Please don't remind me that day. I'm not easy to impress, but having Balerion almost eating Sigrun still makes me shudder." Mikkel made a gesture towards the street. "Shall we move? We can talk while we walk."
King's Landing was shaped almost as a square, with corners pointing North, South, East and West. The city's main street crossed from the Gods' Gate, on the West corner, to the Red Keep, set atop the hill on the Eastern corner, where the Blackwater river meets the sea. The street ran straight until it winded up the hill towards the Red Keep.
Mikkel and Reynir walked down, trying not to slip on the wet stones, or stepping on piles of dung dropped by horses.
"Ah! King's Landing! Westeros' greatest, and filthiest, city!" Mikkel said, while pushing Reynir sideways to avoid stepping on a large mound.
"Oh! Thanks! And what about Sigrun? Why didn't she come?"
"She wanted to rest this afternoon to be ready for tomorrow."
"Hum, doesn't sound much like Sigrun... She never gets tired! Perhaps all those water dancing lessons are wearing her."
"I also found that very unlike her." Mikkel replied. "But I guess she's been taking her teaching very seriously since that... incident, when Emil saved her life. She grew very fond of the young prince after that, as you surely noticed."
"I did." Reynir answered, moving closer to Mikkel. "As much as you surely noticed we're being followed."
A smile lightened Mikkel's face under the hood. "Of course. The kid. I suppose it's one of Ukko-Pekka's notorious "little birds"... I've been followed every day since our arrival. The Master of Whispers must be a very curious man. But then, he's doing his job."
They walked in silence for a while, and Reynir observed the city. It was his first time in King's Landing. He had been in several cities besides Braavos, including Myr, Pentos and Volantis, but none was as large as Westeros' capital, with so many buildings seemingly climbing on each other. There were wealthy palaces along the ample main street, but between them, or sometimes from archways under them, numberless alleys gave access to more and more houses, stores, bars, brothels, workshops and so on, all mixed up without any visible order.
Soon they came to the base of the hill, where the main street continues on a straight line and, to their left, the curved street called The Hook begins, providing the best access to the harbour. As they walked that way Reynir noticed the boy being replaced by a younger girl, but didn't bother mentioning it to Mikkel. "This place is a true maze, you know? I mean, beyond theses few large streets. I got lost a few times myself."
"Is that what you've been doing? Getting lost, eventually robbed, or worse?"
"No. I only got lost twice, and just once two lads tried to rob me. People seem to respect the Red God's attire."
"And what happened?" Mikkel asked, giving some space between them to let a horse and his rider pass.
"They backed away when I put down the hood and they realized I'm a man."
"Lucky guys."
"I guess so. Anyway, I wasn't wandering, but looking for a temple of R'hllor. A servant on the castle told me there's one here on the Hook, hidden on one of those alleys."
Mikkel noticed that Reynir was looking around while they walked, searching. "This is all very different from your home, isn't it?"
"You mean Lys? So different!" He looked up. "This kind of rain is similar, though. Sometimes I miss it, being in the fields with the sheep, feeling the rain, free from worries... But that's not the path I, or perhaps R'hllor, chose."
Mikkel nodded. "And the temple, did you find it?"
"No, not yet. I'm hoping to find it today, since I don't suppose we will have time to look for one in Oldtown... If it exists."
After some time the Hook led them to a larger street, the aptly called Muddy road, that proved an even bigger challenge to walk without stepping into something unpleasant. Before long they arrived at Fishmonger's square, the largest open area on King's Landing, framed by many impressive buildings that house guilds, navigation companies, inns and public offices.
Just ahead they saw the city's outer wall, which at that point would be some forty feet high. There,  between two towers, stood the great arch of the River Gate, flanked by a multitude of stalls and a dozen guards from the City Watch. They crossed the gate to the harbour, turning left towards the Navy's wharf.
"Oh, I also spent some time with Grand Maester Taru." Raynir said. "She's an... interesting person. Knows so many things. She noticed my Lyseni accent and wanted to ask things about Lys and, of course, the Lord of The Light."
"Hum, I see. And you asked her about the Kingdom."
"Sure. But it's easy to see that her interest in Lys was a lie. An excuse to ask me about R'hllor priests and temples. How many and where."
Mikkel's eyebrows raised. "Curious... And what else did you..."
"GOOD TO SEE YOU, LORD MIKKEL! SINCE THAT DAY ON THE THRONE I WANTED TO TALK TO YOU!"
Reynir and Mikkel turned to find Admiral Olsen Greyjoy, Master of Ships, breaking through a host of commanders, officials and representatives of many guilds.
Bowing slightly, Mikkel and Reynir removed their hoods. Mikkel cleared his throat and spoke a bit higher than his usual tone. "Admiral Olsen! A pleasure to see you! We came to check if everything is ready for our departure tomorrow. I suppose you're doing the same. How unfortunate that we didn't cross each other's path along these days."
"UNFORTUNATE? I SAY AMAZING! I COME HERE EVERY DAY SINCE THE KING DECIDED TO GIVE FOUR OF MY BEST SHIPS TO THIS CRAZY ADVENTURE OF YOURS!"
"I understand that you disagree with our enterprise."
"NOT AN ENTERPRISE, MADNESS! NO ONE RETURNED TO THE SUNSET SEA! NOT EVEN DAMN BRANDON THE SHIP BUILDER!"
"We can review our docum..."
"I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT! THE KING DECIDED, EVEN SENDS A PRINCE WITH YOU. ALL I CAN HOPE IS THAT YOU DECIDE TO COME BACK BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. NOW, LORD MIKKEL, TELL ME. HAVEN'T WE MET BEFORE?"
The rain was getting heavier, and Mikkel pulled the hood over his head. "I'm sorry, Admiral, but I don't recall having the pleasure to..."
"OH, BUT I THINK I DO! ON WHITE HARBOUR, FOUR YEARS AGO. WEREN'T YOU SELLING SOME "MAGICAL" ELIXIR THAT CURED ALMOST EVERYTHING, FROM CRAMPS TO SNORING?"
"I'm afraid my good Admiral is confusing me with someone else."
"I HAVE A GOOD MEMORY FOR FACES, AND I'M QUITE SURE IT WAS YOU. EVEN THOSE WHISKERS WERE THE SAME."
"Admiral, I've never been at White Harbour! I can't possibly be that person." Mikkel came closer to the man. "However I do have a twin brother, and he's a merchant. Perhaps it was him. We haven't met in many years."
"WELL, I HAVE TWO MEN THAT WERE WITH ME. THEY BOUGHT THAT ELIXIR... AND JUST GOT LOOSE BOWELS FOR DAYS. WOULD YOU COME WITH ME TO MEET THEM? SO WE CAN SETTLE THIS?"
"Loose bowels? I've... heard about a such elixir before, and if I'm not mistaken that would happen if the person drank during the treatment..." Reynir said, attracting Olsen's attention.
"PRIEST, DID YOU EVER MET A SAILOR THAT DOESN'T DRINK? AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS?"
"I don't... but... It's just... a story I've heard."
Mikkel stepped forward. "Admiral, I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding."
"YES, MUST BE! WHY DON'T YOU BOTH COME WITH ME SO..."
At that moment someone shouted. "FIRE! HELP!" and everybody turned to see the sails of the closest ship on fire, a fire that spread fast to the ship's rigging.
"DAMN!" Olsen put both hands on his head and started to ran towards the ship, shouting orders, being followed by everybody else, except Reynir and Mikkel, that looked at the fire, startled.
"Let's move, fast!" Reynir said, tapping Mikkel's shoulder, and they walked away from the wharf as fast as they could.

These are the last two poems for Yoinktober. And there both about cats! Yay! Everyone likes cats right?

Lazy Cat
(Cats)

Yet another day to sleep in
For a cat I'd say that's a win
My bed is made of soft clean wool
And my food bowl is always full

Although I do not ask for much
I would love lasagna for lunch
It keeps me satisfied for now
I much prefer it than cat chow

As night falls I ready for sleep
I stretch and into bed I leap
Mountains of food fill up my dreams
Until daylight breaks through the seams

I'm not ready to wake just yet
No use changing. My ways are set
Cozy in bed is where I stay
Honestly, I do hate Monday

This one here is about Emil dressing up Bossi with fake bird wings for Halloween.

Wings
(Costume)

I dread this time of year
Folks go looking for fear
And I hide from the clear
But he always comes here

Trying to hiss and growl
Giving him my best scowl
His idea is most foul
Holding wings of an owl

I try to sneak away
But I am forced to play
It's only for one day
The wings upon me stay

These uncomfortable wings
Are not the worst things
I dislike the tight strings
It's still better than slings

It complements my mane
I think this to keep sane
I will endure this pain
I'll not be caught again

Yay, it's a Västerström mischief kinda day!  Personally, I think sending them to Norway is a splendid idea (Iceland not so much), and I applaud their cross-cultural stirrings!  (I hope instructions on how to treat and tan the squirrel hide were forthcoming, though. Yuck.)
Patient Bosse. Time to ready the Cat Spit Revenge?

Opaque: Your Garfield poem is reminding me of my own complicated feelings regarding Mondays. And lasagna, which can be done well or poorly...
And is Emil trying to dress Bosse as Onni? (Their facial expressions do have some similarity...) Or is this set when Emil was little?

grey: I will comment later as I am saving your story for a low-morale moment.

wave: I have strong headcanons on these triplets now. Anna has (quietly) watched Lalli handle a variety of hides over the summer, so she kinda knows what to do. (She might still mess it up, of course.) As for the ickiness, she currently calls the process less 'disgusting' and more 'actually real, unlike the fake, meaningless life of my parents'. And I think Sune will adore Iceland! Even if he can't become a mage (although in my headcanon at least one triplet will end up finding mage powers) he will fall in love with Reykjavik and its many fancy shops. Just imagine, the boots he can buy there...

I grew up on subsistence farms so learned to tan hides when quite young. It is a useful skill.

And when I have done storytelling gigs at Mediæval Fairs I am usually placed in or near the Viking Encampment, which has a number of displays of real-life Viking-era skills. We have people demonstrating everything from making dried and smoked meat, camp cooking, blacksmithing, weaving and spinning, making looms and musical instruments, ship-building, making buckets and barrels, and the kids’ absolute favourite: the tanner! His work is messy, gross and smelly and grosses out their parents, so of course the kids love it!

grey: Reynir helped! If in a rather Emil-ish way. The bit with Olsen Greyjoy was pretty hilarious overall. And ugh, what a realistic medieval city.  No place for long robes...
