And then we found out she was related to Dal. Holy fluffing fuzzballs, that's setting up a conflict. And yeah, conflict happened.
And then I got to the flashback and saw how much of Ro's sadism ("murder lessons" etc.) was, at least initially, bravado that melted away the first time she faced an actual threat. Saw how she cared for her sister. Saw how she had to cut off Dal's leg to save her, and how much it pained her to do so.
And then she was killed. And I don't sympathize in the slightest with what she did after her death warrant was sealed, but up to that point? Yeah, she was on the...less awful end of that fight. She straight-up got revenge murdered and I guess I shouldn't have expected a strong moral compass from the guy whose entire life goal is to amass huge amounts of wealth by whatever means necessary in order to get into not-heaven. But heck, I would have expected him to respect his best friend's fervent request to not murder her sister. But, again, she then also revenge-murdered her murderer so... Call it even?
And then, after being dead, she wakes up. Now an ash-breather. Now, apparently, rescued or revived by her most hated enemies, a literal death cult. Somehow. Now totally out of her element, stripped of all her weapons and armor and even the clothes off her back, not to mention a huge part of her sense of identity.
