Yes, possums were the first thing that came to my mind when the squirrels were being discussed! Although there aren't any around my current place of living, we've lived places near them before and they sure can cause a bit of havoc - in our old house we had an apricot tree and the possums would get in past the bird netting and take big bites out of all the fruit. And yes, clambering all over the roof and peeing in weird places.

Squirrels are lovely! At least as long as:
- they are not upset with you
- there are not too many
- you don’t pay too close attention to what they do besides snacking on cones and acorns

In places where they get used to being fed by humans they become a nuisance and may steal food from hand or climb onto a person’s head and pull hair or scratch trying demanding treats. And they are not good news for nesting birds. Such is nature.

I’ve heard them called rats with beautiful tails and it’s quite true. Then again, clean and friendly rats are also delightful! A friend of mine had pet rats looooooong ago and they were sweet and beautiful.

I know what you mean, some of my nieces and great-nieces, and one of my sons, have had pet rats at various times, and they can be a delight if well kept. And I think squirrels actually are a rodent?
