Ohhhh this one is so hard to decide.... the dream serpent has an AMAZING design and was honestly one of the coolest-looking and biggest monsters there was... but Cthulhund was very tragic and also provided a really good character moment....

I agree, there are some tough ones, and it may get tougher as we go!
As much of an awesome nasty the serpent was, we don't really know much about it.  Its world-building was solely to be 'a danger on the path', and possibly to demonstrate how powerful Onni could be.
Our poor hound, on the other hand, had a whole implied backstory in the form of a collar with a little heart-shaped tag on it.  That little detail, within the whole chapter that gave us so much detail in its worldbuilding (crap buildings, worms in the eyes, sunlight restoring a sense of self, immune animals, Emil & Sigrun & Mikkel's reactions to the mama cat, gramophones, and kallohonka...)  Unparalleled.

Must confess that I voted for the serpent... One hard choice, mostly due to the serpent's awesomeness... Yet I must agree with Wave's and Jitter's reasoning.

Am I clueless, or have I forgotten, or wq!wpaaaoiu#hpb is the sea serpent and Handsy Moose the same entity?

Handsy Moose didn't speak and was a smoothish black body with glimmering hands.  Sea Serpent taunted Lalli and seemed to recognise him, and even though this time was covered in scaly bits, in that view above you can see the skulls adorning it.  The hands, however, are nowhere to be seen, just thick scaly coils to give Lalli a big hug.
I don't have time right now to research this theory or what was said at the time by the Minnions...anybody have a better memory than I do?
