From the Prologue...

Árni Þór Reynisson - plagued by dreams & visions during the events of the Prologue, he is finally granted the release from service he craves, realising his resolve to take up farming and teach his descendants to never leave Iceland.  No one knew then just what those dream visions meant.

The grandparents are the only characters I immensely dislike! Unfortunately they are realistic and it makes sense to include them in the prologue to demonstrate one type of the attitudes that leads to basically everyone dying. But I don’t need to like them!
