Welcome to the Events Board!

Are you new to the Forum? Some tips on getting started with the Forum can be found here: https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=1297.0

This is the area for various Forum creative events, which is to say fanwork challenges, chapter break fillers, Advent Calendar, YoinkTober and so on. It is a separate board especially because our events usually are for various media, but if you have a specific event in mind that is for example only for writing or art, it can still go here if it constitutes an event.

Event planning and suggestions will also go into this board, and also discussion about potential events such as gauging interest when considering whether to arrange one are welcome!

Older events (more than three years old) get archived into the Events Archive, which is a child board of this board. Like all Archive boards, the Events Archive has limited visibility to logged in users with a minimum post count (so Newbies but not Super-Newbies) in accordance with our archive privacy practice. The main Events Board is however as of now open for all and public, so visitors can see it too. And hopefully become members and participate in the events! Several past events are still viewable on the main board both for everyone’s enjoyment and to help give you an idea what a Forum Event is like.

Welcome all old and new people and let’s keep the events rolling!

General rules for Forum Events

Each of the events created here may have their own set of rules in terms of what to post and when. There are however a number of general rules that all Forum Events should follow!

Open for everyone with sufficient number of posts
An event may have a reasonable minimum post count limit to minimize risk of no-show for events where it'd be a bummer if someone bails out unexpectedly (especially in things such as the Secret Santa).

Other than the post limit, the events should be equally open to all Forumites willing to play by the rules. Signups may be and often are required, but no events limited to specific people or excluding someone, ok?

PG-13 / Teen rated
Remember that the open areas of the Forum are to be suitable for Teen Audiences. Please remind the participants in the event invitation, if necessary!

Content description / content warning may also be in order if the content is potentially distressing. If unsure, it's better to err on the side of caution. When content warning is required, please post the work itself under spoiler tags so that users may choose to see it or not. If you feel that a content warning may diminish the enjoyment of the work such as spoil a surprise element, you can put the content warnings under one spoiler (indicated clearly) and the work under another, so that people may choose to not see the warnings, if they don't feel they need such.

Any content that is deemed not suitable for Teens due to sexual, violent or other content may be moved to the Mature board or removed without warning by the Forum staff.

Discussion welcome
If the event includes discussion of the works such as the Chapter Break Fillers do, discussion is open to all Forumites and not only those who contribute works. Welcome to comment and cheer each other along!

Not limited to SSSS, but be clear
Our events have so far always been related to SSSS, and to an extent ARtD. This need not be the case from now on. If you have a multi-fandom or original work event in mind, feel free to suggest it.

However please make sure it is clear to all participants whether the event is intended for SSSS content, or of any other limitations.

Mixed media unless otherwise stated
Unless specifically described as e.g. a writing or art event, the event contributions (works) may be of any media that can be presented on the Forum. We have so far had at least stories, prose, poetry, recipes and other informative content, digital and traditional art, music, video, photographs, crafts, baked goods, cosplay...

Keep your commitments
If you commit to provide a work on an Event that has a set posting schedule, please endeavor to deliver as promised.

However, we all know that life happens and this is after all just a hobby! If you cannot finish your work, please inform the event organizer as soon as possible. Many events have so called "pinch hitters", people who have promised to produce something quick to cover for such events.

Constructive commenting
The events are intended to fun. Authors may invite constructive criticism, in which case feel free to provide such. However, if criticism is not specifically invited, please make sure you comment in a positive tone, or remain silent. The other creative boards are more suitable for works inviting criticism, while the events are just a bit of fun.

Enjoy!
With all this boring yadda yadda, don't forget that the Events are one of the most fun things on the Forum! Enjoy, whether by participating, discussing, or just looking!

Please note that this is the first version of the events rules and may be modified as needed. If you feel like something has been left out or should be worded differently, please comment below or PM me!
