Ohh I've always loved the concept of having an animal represent your physical/mental state, it's why His Dark Materials was one of my favorite series :D

Me too!! ;D

I'm kind of unsure what mine would be. My initial thought was either a weddell seal or an owl, and then I took a couple of spirit/totem animal tests and kept on getting wolf xD

Wait, you're Frenci... Do you own the cat or is the cat your Luonto? (or both) And I thought Frenci was the cat's name... Thank you for omitting the possessive, Martti! I'm royally confused right now. *facepalm

So many interesting ideas here.

Mine would either be a cat, because of my social behavior and love of sunlight and getting stuck in trees; or a deer because they're also shy and gentle-looking but damn can they bite. ;) Also both animals kind of represent freedom to me, and I'm big on following dreams and not being stuck in one place.

I got cougar on some luonto test that someone in the comments found (or made, don't remember). But I'd probably  have some sort of cat. Or maybe an owl, or a crow (which was what I got next on the test). Idk :I

i was fascinated by luontos as soon as it was mentioned in ssss/viola mentioned it to me/idk but whatever...imine would be a dragon.  or a cat.  maybe a bird? if it was a bird, probably either a crow, titmouse, or owl.  i've been eeing a lot of crows around lately.  there are so many possibilities!!

edit: i just took a quiz and my top 5 highest results were wolf, swan, otter, horse, and crow. so/but i'm *definitely* a wolf. ;^)

I would want it to be a black-capped chickadee.

They are small and cute and fluffy and appear to be fragile and harmless and sweet, but are surprisingly tough and aggressive when pushed.  I handle a lot of birds through bird banding programs and I have been bitten by far the most by chickadees.  I could mail a chickadee by weight with a single first-class stamp, and am a couple thousand times heavier so I'm basically a giant monster by comparison, and those little guys fully intend to take me down with them.  They're fighters.  This often gets them in trouble since they will struggle and flip around in the nets and get themselves ridiculously tangled; having them biting down on the webbing on my fingers while I'm trying to distangle them doesn't help either.

Chickadees are known for being curious, always checking any new thing out because they have no fear (this is why they're usually the first to find a new bird feeder - other birds follow the chickadees).  Their names come from their calls which could like chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee, with the number and speed of dees denoting the size and danger-level of a predator.  It is not a warning cry to tell the other birds to save themselves and hide; it's calling out to all the other chickadees and friends to come together and attack the predator until it goes away.  When you're small and the rest of the world is bigger and wants to eat you, you need to be tough, and it pays to work together.

Smirty: I have, at various times, had spiders, snakes, mantids, and especially scorpions living with me. I really don't like keeping creatures in cages smaller than the space they would inhabit in the wild, so things that never travel far, like the small scorpions, I have kept in a big fishtank full of rocks. I'd never keep something like a mouse-spider indoors, because in the wild they migrate, and they wouldn't like it. I'd never keep a bird in a cage unless it was hurt and I was patching it up. I'll keep fish in a pond or an old bathtub, but not in a tank or a bowl. Spiders and mantids just lived loose in the house. Snakes either lived outside, or in the case of the green tree snake that moved into my hut in Far North Queensland, just hung out in the roof. The structure was open on three sides, so she could go in and out as she pleased.

Where I live now there are spiders, snakes, lizards, frogs, scorpions, birds, possums and lots of other small wildlife in the garden and in the reserve over the road. A small mob of wallabies regularly visit my garden on the way from their daytime spot by our tiny river to their evening grazing on a neighbour's farm. They nibble on my roses, succulents and broccoli. And they love chicory, sadly!  I don't have any indoor pets apart from two cats, and I keep them in at night, for the sake of the other wildlife. My husband is a bit nervous of creatures, so if a spider comes inside it is escorted off the premises, generally by me.

Mayabird: Chickadees, yes. So feisty and brave. They remind me a bit of the blue wrens we have here, and the silvereyes and New Holland honeyeaters. They nest in my Grevillea bushes which are dense and spiky. Nothing can get at them, not even a cat. And when a hawk or a butcher-bird turns up all these small birds band together to mob it and drive it off. No fear whatever.

I took the spirit animal quiz that's been making rounds in the comment section, and I got bear. Horse was second with just one point difference. I've always been into polar stuff, so I figured out my luonto would be a polar beartaur:
