YESSS IT IS FINISHED.

I have no clue how many hours I've spent on it. A silly amount, I think. Could have done it faster.

Well, without delay, here is Lalli & Cats!

Oh my gosh Lenny! Is it weird that I'm really really really liking all the detail on the luggage? Because WOW! And the elbow-rest kitty is so adorable :3

No, it is not, and I'm actually really really glad that someone's picked up on that detail! I spent quite a bit of time on it, haha. I think elbow-rest kitty is my favourite ;)

Among other nice details, I like that you picked up on Lalli's cold-reddened nose.  You and Minna both account for the real-world aspects of Nordic exploration!

Great effin job, Lenny! Specially digging the way you rendered the shadows under the luggage. Kinda wishing they'd expand a little more, so there was more of that yummyness c:

also thanks guys!

Dang.  Really good job on that...  He looks relaxed!
I tried learning colors and values, once...  *totally not jealous or anything*

And, JaoLao...  we might need some more of those short animations...

So much talent in this thread!

Thank you!~

Thanks!~ I try to. It's what I love most about Miyazaki's work, too - all the little details that make it real, even in fantastical worlds and situations.

That is a BRILLIANT picture! Thanks for drawing it!

You're welcome! I hope to do a few more like this, but no promises, haha.

MMmmmm... The legs and arms...

Dem legs and arms are the things that attracted me most to Lalli, haha ;D Even before I started reading SSSS properly. I was looking through the miscellanious section of SSSS, and there in the newest piece was this person with really cool armour... they're just so cool, those boots and gloves<3

Great effin job, Lenny! Specially digging the way you rendered the shadows under the luggage. Kinda wishing they'd expand a little more, so there was more of that yummyness c:

Thanks! Yeah, in the original sketch I had a whole heap of shadow under there. I edited it out when I was cleaning up the pic, but looking at it now... I like my profile pic better, haha! So I'll probably end up editing the original again to put more colour and texture both as sort-of-shadows, and around the edges of the piece.

Also, no problem~

So much talent in this thread!

Thanks! Ooof, will it be totally awful of me to say that I never tried learning them, not once? *rubs head awkwardly* I do like experimentation, though.

I second the talent statement! It's really fun to see the fanart shared here, it's all so different and all so fun in its own way :D

Mention of Lalli's "pin-up pose" on the hood of the Cattank led me to imagine a pin-up photo shoot featuring our cast (strictly for the high-minded purpose of raising funds and support for the Expedition, of course).

Well, that inspired the marvelous OrigamiOwl to *illustrate* the photo shoot.  Now, she was a little shy, and I had to persuade her to share her drawing with the full community.  So let's all give her a warm welcome, and maybe she'll draw some more for us!

I have provided an edited transcript of the studio conversation during the shoot.
Frames 1 and 2:
TUURI: He says lean over.  Stretch your arms out like you're washing the car.  *click, click*
3. TUURI: Now he says climb up on the hood.
4. LALLI: Like this?  What for?
5. PHOTOGRAPHER: Pam, darling, get the fish.
6. ASSISTANT: Psst!  Kitty-kitty-kitty!
7, 8. PHOTOGRAPHER (under his breath): Farther... *click, click* farther...
9.  Oops!
10. PHOTOGRAPHER:  Perfect, lovie!  I think we've got our cover shot in the bag.
Mind if I borrow this idea blurb? I think I can do something moderately good with this...

Haha, feel free!  We could use some more giggles around here.  Just remember, if it turns out NSFW, neither OrigamiOwl nor I had anything to do with it... ;)
