Thank you all for the nice comments! I guess I just kind of sort of outed myself as both a Rose of Versailles and Revolutionary Girl Utena -fan (I know, everyone's sooo surprised etc.)...

anionion: liking all types is awesome! I just haven't seen many of the latter kind which is why it felt like such a refreshing approach. :)

I realized something
I know anything about Classic Art (classics like, for example, Mona lisa)
I mean, guys if you put me a test about this I'll fail because y'all know more and I should know it too 7~7
Don't feel bad about that! You're really young and probably haven't had art history at school yet (if you ever will?), I've gone to art school AND I'm kinda currently studying art history at university. (AND i might fail a test about it too, because i spend all my time on this forum instead of reading for exams) ((don't worry I actually read some today *confetti*))

Haiz: ...I'm so sorry for forgetting I had even commented on it! D:
pfhhhfhh no offence taken! I'm kinda used to this treatment with my mom who is all
"I JUST READ THAT GOLDFISH REMEMBER MORE THAN THREE SECONDS. That means I've been wrong about having a goldfish memory all this time, because it's worse!"
"YES MOM I'VE TOLD YOU THiS EXACT FACT FIVE TIMES BEFORE"
"i forgot"
you'll know where to find me.

For those of you who aren't art history geeks, here's a link to the painting:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_Slaying_Holofernes_%28Artemisia_Gentileschi%29
(She modeled Holofernes on her former art teacher, who raped her and got off on a technicality.  Take THAT, patriarchy.)
*Feels an urgent need to read her History of Art's lessons on Caravaggio*

Anonion, it's a creepy unexpected version of Ophelia :D

I apologize for posting a slightly off-topic question, but it is at least related to Artemisia Gentileschi, and maybe you drawing-types can explain something for me.

Artemisia's father Orazio was also a painter (she learned the craft from him).  For many years I had a print of his "The Lute Player" hanging over my breakfast table, where I saw it every day.  (I am fond of Renaissance music and cosplay, so.)

--> Is there something off about the placement of the main figure's ear?  To me, it looks set oddly far back from her eye (I say, feeling around to figure out how many finger-widths my own left ear is set behind my eye).
(Not to mention that weirdly twisted posture, in which she's going to strain her neck as well as drop her music on the floor, but I guess that's just typical Italian Mannerist twistiness.  Like in his picture of St. Cecilia -- that angel is *not* holding the music where a real keyboard player could see it.)

Okay so like I drew this thing long time ago (Forgot when I finished it):

Everything's in pen except for the sign and black and blue hatches on the left, colored pencil.
Half-crumbled I guess: :southkorea:

Sunflower, I don't know about the ear (should be in about the middle of the head, so it does look like it, but perspective is weird) but that is definitely not how necks work :I

Silenter that is so cool and the hatching shows the colors so well! That looks like a ton of work and it's so impressive :0 Also, Reynir looks adorable and I really love his hair!! :D

I like this a lot!  With the hatching and the collage effect, it reminds me of Tove Jansson's Moomin comic strips (the first volume of which I'm reading now).

Thanks Curry and Sunflower! :D I'll probably make more of these in the future. :)

Fimbulwaffle and Solovei had the most best idea ever creating
KAMIGRUN!!!!
a while ago on the edits thread, and I laughed and cried way back when.
I started watching that show again, and now I can't not see our most glorious
captain whenever Kamina speaks. THEY ARE SOUL MATES.

And so fan art had to happen.
Spent waaay longer on this than I should have...

I present Kamigrun, piercing the Silent World with her awesomeness!

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!

BELIEVE IN THE ME WHO BELIEVES IN YOU!

To be fair, I've had stronger feelings for some digital drawings than I have for actual physical people.
