[Takes peek at Germany's entry] "... Kornblumenblaaaaauuuu ... ist der Himmel am herrlichen Rheine ..." [ahem] Sorry. Standing still and oaken again now.

Aww, Germany's symbol is the cornflower, a/k/a bachelor's button!  So cute!  And an adorably schmaltzy song to go with it!

But Wikipedia says the cornflower was chosen because it's the same color as Prussian blue, one of the first synthetic pigments.  Vorsprung durch Technik...

Here's a Braidy with slightly wonky looking feet (I started working on it in the middle of the night shhh)

Starfallz suggested I draw him with his hair unbraided, so yeh.

Must touch hair.... must pet... too adorable... (starts hyperventilating)

Hi everyone!
I`m sorry for my broken english, it is not my native language and i wasn`t learning it diligently enough in the school :(
I just made some spring fanart with flowers, smiles and etc, while we all waiting for a new chapter.

It doesn`t looks like Lalli, but it`s Lalli

It doesn`t looks like crocuses, but it`s crocuses

I am pretty much satisfied with this picture, because Emil looks like Emil and daffodils looks like daffodils.

What do you mean, "it doesn't look like Lalli"??  You did perfect likenesses, both of the characters and suitable flowers.  :)  In fact, it's crocus time in New England, where I went to college; I vividly remember waiting for those first little heralds of spring to pop up through the mud and melting snow.

If you do similar portraits of the rest of the cast, I'd like to see Mikkel paired with some medicinal plant.  Something like St. John's Wort (a tranquilizer), willows (since willow bark is the original source of aspirin)... or maybe poppy buds like your own icon!  (Just as long as his floral emblems don't block our view of his side-whiskers.  Those are important.)

Second to the oak, it also says. As in, those aren't flowers you'll see on the verso of Germany-minted Euro coins. ;)

But Wikipedia says the cornflower was chosen because it's the same color as Prussian blue, one of the first synthetic pigments.  Vorsprung durch Technik...
The Bavarians love blue (and white) right to pieces, more precisely, diamonds,

but you praise "Prussian blue" at them at your own risk! :P

Hey everyone! If you haven't already read the Lalli calendar thread, I'm putting one together, made up of fanart of Lalli from fans here on the forum. :) It will be free to download and print. You can read the thread for the full info or to comment on the project, but basically I need some volunteers to put some art in.
Calendar thread --->  http://ssssforum.pcriot.com/index.php?topic=305.15
As Starfallz said, "200 dpi is a good resolution for print... the artwork should be 8.27 in wide and 5.5 in tall (210 mm wide x 139.7 mm tall)."
The artwork can be new or already drawn, as long as it fits or comes close to those specifications. I'll be needing approx. 10 submissions. If more are offered than I can fit, I may end up compiling them into an SSSS character themed calendar for 2016. Since we will all be hanging these up to admire, I'm hoping everyone will put their best art forward (not just rough sketches and doodles) Beginners and experts welcome.  :D
Personal message me if you would like to get my email and send some art for the calendar.

Thanks!

Red clover, resp. pyramidal saxifrage or common heather, it seems. You wouldn't happen to have already known that, wouldn't you ... ?

Iceland's is the white dryad.
I honestly did not know that. Now I'm scared. Very scared.
However, I guess that means those flowers really do suit the countries if I could accidentally guess them O___O
I went for an evening walk the other night and saw heaps of daisies and little heather things and thought of SSSS X) so bizarre.

guys, hey guys, my hand slipped again :D I know I know, I only seem to draw Lalli but I like drawing mages, you get to depict cool magicky things, kinda like this:

(right after I say that I'm incapable of inking and coloring my drawing, I get the inspiration to do this :DD also, I hope I resized it enough, the original is huuge)

So here, have a lil mage and his soul birdie
(now that I look at it, I could've made the wings even more glowy/sparkly, but oh well :D)

Also, jesus you guys make such awesome things!

THAT IS BEAUTIFUL

Seriously, how do you do that? It looks so stunning! The light! It's just... wow. *is in awe*

Must touch hair.... must pet... too adorable... (starts hyperventilating)

Hehehehehehe

(I know what you mean. Now that I've drawn him like that once there's just no going back, I want to spend all my time doodling unbraided Braidy! Too cuteee >.<)

I like it, great job! Is it vector, by any chance? Because personally I love vector art  ;D UPD: Okay, now I've seen it's not. But that doesn't matter as long at it is truly well-drawn :)
And tell your friend she is just as awesome and we're glad you showed us her works (I hope I can say it for others, too)   :D
also - more, more Russian members!
oh wow, these are very pretty! I'd love to have them as stickers or something...
Hehey! Hi, another russian member ;D I love your style!
They all look great and very recognizable! :) I especially love how peaceful Lalli looks.
:D :D :D These are perfect Olga! The fine, sweeping lines and the colours are so fantastic!!

Were you thinking about drawing Sigrun and Mikkel and Braidy eventually too? :3

(edit:) *rambling to myself* I can imagine Mikkel with daisies or clover, and Sigrun with something awesome or just some cute hardy heather, (because she's pretty cute and hardy) and Braidy......maybe he can have Iceland's national flower...whatever it might be.
What are Denmark and Norway's national flowers? :o
Yes, I`m already started draw Sigrun with scarlet carnations, it will be completed in a few days  :)

I don`t know what flower is suitable for Braidy, so I`ll draw him later, after Minna will give us more informations about him... But Iceland's national flower sounds good, thank you!

Great idea! Poppies are used to production morphine and others analgesics, I think it is perfect flower for medic  :D

I haven't used it myself, but I have a friend who used GIMP before and I think it's free. There's Paint tool sai as well, but I'm unsure of how cheap it is (cheaper than photoshop at least).

GIMP is indeed free. That's the one good thing about GIMP imo.

If you have a drawing tablet, I'd recommend Krita!
