I sketched two lil' protraits yesterday because of boredom, let me toss 'em here. ^^"

It's not my usual style, but I wanted to draw the boys with a sort of semi-realistic style (frankly it was just so I could fill half a page in my sketchbook)

(also since the characters in the comic don't have lips it feels really strange to draw them some (or maybe it's just me struggling to draw realistic mouths))

Very nice! You make me want to go back to my sketchbook. Maybe I'll do. :-)

I understand you so much. I tried once to make them lips and somethings happened in my head. Like :
Error system: your character has a serious physical problem.
it reminds me of another story (Oban Star Racer, maybe some people know?) where the characters have no nose! So adding one when drawing it was so .... Wrong?
In any case, I really like these little drawings! The expressions are not bad at all !
For Emil and his mouth, maybe try to make the teeth in an arc rather than a straight line?

When Minna 'painted' semi-realistic portraits of the crew, we all went off our nut admiring Emil's kissable lips.  The rest of the crew still ended up with thinnish lips in that series.

Yes I remember this series (especially Emil's, got me swooning when I first saw it). The lips were still very subtly drawn, but when I saw them I was like "wait. something's wrong.". Then I realised the characters in the comic never had lips, which I had never noticed before. ^^"

For Emil and his mouth, maybe try to make the teeth in an arc rather than a straight line?
Now that you mention it, you're right! I should draw them in more of an arc.
Teeth are hard too, if I draw them too realistically, they make the character look terrifying, and if I draw them too simplistically, then they look wrong too. May I start a petition to remove all teeth in art so I don't have to draw them ever again??
