Abrallen - your postcard drawings are really cute :3
Unlos - I'm repeating myself, but Mikkel in autumn colours is beautiful!

As for this lovely sleeping Lalli...

I have a less peaceful, more sassy version of him :D

Ooh I love the sassy version of Lalli on the couch! Frankly, your drawing was what put the idea of more lounging Lallis into my head when Kiraly suggested Lalli in that palette, too.

Another few week's worth of sketches (the better ones, at least)

I've been trying to force myself to draw larger sketches, and it appears to be working out quite well so far - the quality has improved noticeably, though I still need more practice. Still, its nice to be overcoming that particular learning curve. One of my aunts is a professional artist, so I'll get some advice from her when I see her this Christmas.

Lovely Lallis louchely lounging lately!  The same but so different!
Good job, Glory, the main key (I'm told) is practice, and you seem to be putting in the effort.
Fun, Reynir, Morgan!  A cute and smiling Reynir for us.
Unlos, your palette challenge pics are stunning - I really like the Emil on the skateboard, although your Mikkel and Lalli adhere well.  I got the limited palette challenge sprung on me in art class one day, when we were told to pick 4 fandom colours, and *then* given the brief - to go somewhere on campus for one hour and draw a scene.  I'd picked a lightish blue, hot fuschia pink, yellow ochre, and light brown.  I sat myself down in the pottery class, and got over my frustration at what to do to pick out light and dark areas about halfway through my hour.  I hated the result with garish hot pink everywhere, but later viewed it more favourably.  It is a very effective technique.

Thank you! Do you have pictures of that painting? Sounds like an interesting palette! Was this colours you could mix further yourself, or did it have to be clean colors only?
Glory, I'm glad to see you're working on drawing, and moving up! Lots of good Sigruns there.

No, I don't.  *scratches head*  I've just had a good look around at my stash of framed pictures that are out of display rotation, and can't find it.  I've been through my unframed pictures just recently, so I won't have re-used the frame.  *fret*  I can't remember whether that one even came to NZ with me, and if it didn't, who would have it.

Anyway!  It was not a planned array of colours, I was a n00b and didn't know what was coming when I picked random colours out of my oil pastels.  As they were oil pastels, yes, I could mix them to a certain extent, and did so with mixed success.  The brown was the darkest colour to look at, but it didn't do very well as a shadow colour.  The best shadow I could get mixed a layer of blue over the brown, with the ochre or fuchsia as a highlight next to it, very slightly blended in at the edges.

The most important thing I really learnt from that particular piece was not leaving any paper visible.  I went back later and finished the picture (there was only so much I could do in an hour on a 18x24in-45x60cm) and it was suddenly a lot more effective once I eliminated the void spots.  There are times for white space but depiction of a whole scene is not one of them.

*fret* Dagnabbit, where is that old thing?

There's an image button, right under the bold option in the reply posting window. Put your image up on another website that can host it, copy the url, hit the image button and paste the URL within. Easy-peasy.

Oh. Darn. Does this mean I have to find one of those websites and create an account for it which I'll then feel obligated to use every day for years?

Probably.  The very first post in this thread is useful for an overview.  (NB - since those instructions were written, there has been a Mature Board created for NSFW images and works, either sexy or gory.)
which I'll then feel obligated to use every day for years?

Nope, not necessary.  I have images hosted on tumblr (which does seem to require some participation) and imgur (which I have forbidden myself from ever using with a phone because the app is very pushy).
Imgur's advantages comes in a) the ability to create folders of grouped material, and b) ability to assign permission of 'private' to images or whole folders, and c) before I got the enough nous to do this manually, I would use imgur's facility with pasting links into different formats, including the BBCode this site prefers.  I've released a few images into public on imgur and immediately received dozens of dreaded downthumbs instantly.  So now I uploaded some there and keep them private, only releasing the link here.  The rest I release on my tumblr blog, which has a *ahem* select readership, because I weed out the pornbots as they appear.
I find tumblr easy to use on a phone (takes picture of image, edit, upload), and the imgur Android app worse than useless on a phone, but quite useful from a desktop.

If I remember correctly, Imgur doesn't require you to have an account to upload pictures, but as Wavewright notes it can be useful

Wavewright, I have Imgur app on my Android haven't perceived it as pushy- that said it might be because I turn a mighty blind eye to the main opening page and only post privately.

One of the reasons to keep an account is that it is much easier to keep a slight control of what you have posted - and can delete the picture later. (I know you can't keep control of reposts but still)

Hope you manage to share your ink, I'm looking forward to seeing it!
