I would hold off, I think, on having a feast? Our "mood" is already at 5, so we don't need the boost, and the extra 5 food might come in handy another time. Plus, maybe we want to consider how often, or under what circumstances we want to *have* feasts. Do we want one a week as a regular thing, like part of our religious observance (like Sunday dinner to Y0 folk) or do we only want one when we need a pick-me-up or part of a specific "holy day"? Just throwing it out there for discussion.

All of that makes sense. If we're having our weekly gatherings, the feasts could become more occasional again; especially if we're eating well all week long.

So I'll change my vote to agree with skipping a feast this week. -- I was going to say that when we get the regular ceremonies worked out, we could consider integrating the feasts; but I then remembered that our newest members don't want to join our religion, and I don't think they should be left out of the feasts. So the feasts will need to remain secular; though I think we should still hold feasts on the equinox and solstice days.

I still can't make up my mind on the best milestone perk; so will let others decide that one, unless we wind up needing a tiebreaker.

And Jacob is probably right about cutting down on Troll numbers as our "perk." Not only have we lost a lot of our people to them, we've also lost plenty of actions to High Levels of Troll Activity. Like last turn and the planting. I'll second his suggestion.

I agree with the others on the New Swan matters, we should wait a bit before going looking for them

On actions i agree with throny

If the weather gets bad I think we should maybe do D16 as a major, being low on Resources also makes a lot of other valuable actions impossible

On the milestone perks thing, maybe we should choose the "a tweak to the game's mechanics, so there's less trolls" thing. We've lost too many people and actions to them, and a bit of extra luck there could do good

It is a kiss.  The thickest area in the middle is light falling upon a closed eye, eyelashes, and the top of the cheekbone, ending where the other person's nose crosses theirs.  Does that help?

Thanks.

And Miriam, this picture was inspired by a painting that hung on the wall in my friends house - for a long time I saw only an abstract orange shape on a dark blue background until one day something clicked and it resolved into a portrait of a person, the orange being the highlights on forehead, eyelids, cheek and mouth. So I can well understand that this it not easily recognizable as anything! But as Wavewright said, it is a kiss.

Good, since I didn't mean to offend you. If I tilt my head to the right and try hard then I'm able to recognise most of it now, thanks to Waveright's explanation.

There can never be too much Reypunzel, can there?

Too much Rapunzel, maybe, but never too much of this. XD

Already commented on A3O, but will say here also: I like the way you hint at Emil's sad past, and your writing continues to improve.

Mmmm, barley bread. And/or barley beer. We'll have three units for that even if we can plant the second field; and, I hope, considerably more to come later. -- Barley alone may make better bread than oats alone, as oats haven't got any gluten, and straight oat bread would be harder to get to rise at all; it's going to be tricky enough getting bread to rise with no purchased yeast and currently not much in the way of sweeteners. And barley's very good in soups.

OK, let's try our last week's outdoor stuff again, and hope the third time's the charm.

Drill the scouts.
People trying to get pregnant, keep trying.
01, hold a feast.
02, convert food to fuel.
03, call up New Swan, and hope we get through this time.
04, sacrifice at shrine.
07, light up the beacon.
09, if we get that grain in the ground this week, fertilize it.
010, evening gathering. I'm sure we can come up with something to talk about, or sing, or play -- we could put on a play! if anybody remembers one well enough, or can make one up in a hurry. Maybe we wouldn't get further the first time than discussing the possibility, though.

If weather permits, try again for last time's intended good weather actions:
E2, get the salt marshes set up, which takes a major.
E10, tertiary, seed grain in the plowed field, before it gets any later in the year. Fertilize the field at planting, see above. Seed it more heavily than last time, to make up for possibly old seed: plant 7 units, not 5. If we think one batch is newer than the other, plant 4 units of whichever's newer mixed with 3 of the older batch.
For either/both of those activities, take two cats who are neither pregnant nor nursing, and three weapons.

If the weather doesn't permit, though again I hope it does, I'd really rather get E2 and E10 done:
. . .   hmm. We're getting low on resources again. A lot of the things I'd like to do need resources, but I don't like to get too low, in case we get an emergency break in the wall again or something. Maybe D16, try to get more resources out of the ruins. That can be either a secondary or a major. I'm inclined to do it as a secondary, and F9, dig a new hole for the latrines, as the other secondary.

Thank you, Wavewright and Róisín! As Grade E cat quite correctly pointed out, the person on the right is definitely Tuuri, whereas the other was meant to be Sigrun - but the angle of the little light that is made it pretty hard to make her recognizable. Now it is up to the viewer to interpret who it is, I think.

Thank you, Hrollo and Róisín!
Róisín, there are in a way four characters here, and I'll try to give you a minimum if inadequate background on them: The picture I based the drawing on, is the iconic poster of japanese director Hayao Miyazakis Mononoke Hime (or Princess Mononoke), an animated film from 1997 that depicts a conflict between human settlers and the spirits of the forest. The girl San is one of the main characters, a human girls who lives with wolf spirits of the forest. The movie is well worth watching, I think, and very different from what comes from Disney and Dreamworks. Don't misunderstand, I love a lot of Disney and Dreamworks, too, but studio Ghibli is just something else.

Some of the opposition between human technology and forest magic also exist in the comic Gunnerkrigg Court by Tom Siddel. Warmly recommended! Annie is the main character, living at a sort of boarding school in the vast and rather empty city-complex of Gunnerkrigg Court. Ysengrin is a wolf spirit and I don't think I can tell too much about him without revealing all of the story - but I love his character.
Not depicted is Coyote, a trickster god who resembles Puppy fox a lot except grown up and clever.
