It also doesn't help that the designs of the flags are ridiculously similar, save for the colors; so while it's relatively easy to pick up, it's rather confusing at first.Eeeeehhh, I don't quite have that excuse, seeing that the list of similes to my country's flag (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Gallery_of_flags_by_design#Tricolour-Horizontal) is almost twice as large as theirs (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Gallery_of_flags_by_design#Scandinavian_cross).

Wow! That is a labor of love! The first picture, I would never have known *wasn't* a frame from the comic. The second frame has a wonderful Roy Lichtenstein artier-than-art quality. Did you really do the whole scene in that level of detail?!?

Yup, the whole picture is done that way... took me about thirty hours... *eye twitch*
I wish I could post the original Illustrator file, because you can zoom in and see all the shapes, which doesn't work when converted to a .png. (and I can only post so many details, too) I keep pulling the image up on my computer and just staring at it 'caause I'm proud of myself.

I'm in the middle of creating a Sims 3 family of the crew, but I've only gotten Tuuri Sigrun and a decidedly ugly Lalli so far. I just bought Fantasy Life yesterday and am already training hunter Sigrun in addition to my orginal character. :P And yay Skyrim! So much fun hoarding books! :D

If people post according to their average posting rate, Fimby will get there first in between 2-3 weeks (Haiz will also pass Piney around this time). Then Sunflower and Haiz will get their promotions within a few days of each other. Of course this changes slightly all the time, so it's only a rough estimate.

It's a Christmas's biscuit from Austria called zimtsterne (cinnamon's stars), so might be a problem for persons who don't like cinnamon. (I had never try to bake them without the spice but it might be possible with all the almond powder inside...)

Emil: I feel like it has to be something with lapsang souchong! It has this intense smokiness. Which I hate, I hate lapsang souchong, it tastes like meat, so I don't know what else would be good in it. Today I stopped on my way home from work to run a few errands. When I was back in my car I had to wait for some people to get out of the car in front of me so I could pull around it. Well...that extra minute of sitting there gave me time to see that the people were a tall man with long, curly red hair (it was at around his shoulder blades) and a shorter woman with light brown hair in sort of a pixie cut. I've seen sets carved or burned into leather, or cut into or painted on small stones or pieces of bone, or cut into little chunks of clay which are then baked hard, but the method I learned was to cut or burn them into discs of wood cut from the branch of a fruit-bearing tree. Fort Nelson - Fantastic lines of sight and fire, and the defences are all intact, but there's little room to grow food and no water supply. Possibly OK for a few days or if you can establish secure supply lines.
Portchester Castle - Room for a large population, livestock and crops. Walls are ruinous, but intact - will need substantial repairs before they can be patrolled. Old well should be able to be re-opened. Several buildings are inhabitable, others can be repaired. Faces water on three sides, but urban area on other - much potential for troll activity. Would be a reasonable location for survival if a suitable workforce could be supported and defended while the walls are repaired and other upgrades made.
Of course both sites are in southern England, so survival wouldn't be possible without some major climate changes :)
Wyrm, doesn't everyone look at castles and fortresses that way? Not necessarily for trolls, just for general survival. I'd choose Bodiam Castle, you'd need paratroopers to take it, and that nifty kinked causeway would probably drown a lot of trolls. Maybe also Urquhart Castle and Fort William, further north?

What turns them into deadly burn-everything wildfires is the overgrowth from a combination of feral weeds swamping the area between trees, and the loss to introduced animal pests of most of the small animal life that kept the underbrush down to a level where there were 'cool' fires rather than firestorms like the Sampson Flat and Pinery fires near where I live.
... when you go to an International Conference of Scholars for Scandinvavian Studies and recommend the comic to everyone who asked and didn't ask. (Many of them being interested in Scandinavian Sci-Fi and the depiction of magic - bullseye!) I hope it receives scholarly interest that way. If not I write something some time in the future.

You know you´re an SSSS Addict when you spent a lot of your free time creating a pic for an event on the SSSS Forum, and when you finally got the damn pic ready it gave you an irresistible inspiration to write a story for the same event, and you did that, even knowing that it will eat away your remaining free time and force you to work hours in the night...

I always had trouble waking up for early morning classes, and the comic updates late into the night in my time zone. Mix the two and you have me easily getting right off of bed, booting up the computer, staring lovingly at the new page completely awake, and smoothly moving into the class. I still get to wake up early and seize the morning even when there are no classes that day. Pretty great! O:-)
Every time an update happens you race to find the location on Google maps and add it to the community map of the adventure. Then you brag about it to your girlfriend and make an account just to post this and nothing else.Hopefully it won't be "...and nothing else"! Welcome! :)
I've had a dream in which somebody summoned Kokko (the big fire eagle that Onni calls upon in adv 1) in order to fight... a giant cat??? It was a pretty weird dream. The cat was also somehow associated with my school's very mediocre principal and during the dream I gave the principal a piece of my mind which was quite satisfying, only I'd decided to write her a follow-up email during the dream so when I woke up I had to remind myself that I did not, in fact, have to contend with the consequences of having confronted my school's principal and did not have to write any difficult follow-up emails, which was honestly quite relieving.
Does this count? Inside my mind, I have started to refer to my sunrise/sunset jogs as morning/evening scouting.
(Also, I do actually have a mission: to find all the raidable hazelnut bushes in the area.)
And while I am here... the first time I ate scavenged hazelnuts this fall, I also had my first SSSS dream, about the team traveling with a forest full of hazels and worrying about hazelnuts falling on Lalli, as he is so tiny that they could squish him.
