Does anyone know if Minna's going to do another printing of aRTD? I missed the first one and I really want to get a copy....

Her statement of intent (quite a while ago, I admit) was that she'll be selling the books left from the initial print run (IIRC there's in the order of one third left now), but won't have more printed. Ever.

Actually, it's quite possible that the interlibrary loan system allows you to (temporarily) get the physical book, too. Minna made sure to have a proper ISBN alotted (978-91-637-4627-7).

I get that, but I've moved around enough in the last little while that I'm starting to at least see some of the benefits of e-books, namely, you don't need to pay to ship them back and forth or ask to store them at people's houses or worry that they'll be damaged in transit.

Haha, I mainly use ebooks, too, but out of convenience. All my books everywhere, they don't weigh a bit, etcetera. Still, when there's a masterpiece such as aRTD, I can't just be happy with an ebook, there's no difference between that and the webcomic!

I think on the current print drive someone asked a question and Minna said that the ebook is about double the resolution of the web version... but yeah, other than that (and the book-only extras, don't know if aRTD has those) I guess there's not much difference

I think Minna said she's going to open the aRTD sales after the print drive for SSSS has hit its halfway point - so relatively nearby, I'd say.
I'm waiting for it too...!!!

I got one too. 90$ is quite a lot but at least I need to pay it only once since it's the whole story... It should arrive within a week! Eee!

Minna said on one of her comments that she had to deal with nearly everything that could be dealt with concerning stuff gong wrong while shipping. My copy should be in here within the next week. I'm very excited about it. If it arrives in time, Minna is quicker than my bank or my employer ;)

I know this thread is old, but in case anyone wanders in here and is wondering about getting the book, Minna just recently sold out of the last undamaged copies of aRTD. Many people asked about another print drive, and she said things are too crazy right now juggling the comic and the SSSS print drive, so she may not be up to doing an aRTD print drive #2 for several years. Hopefully she'll consider it sooner if there's a significant break between SSSS print drives, but those could take up the majority of her time for quite awhile, as SSSS is so much longer than aRTD.

That means there is a chance for a second print drive, and some extras will pop up on the hivemill around the same time as the extras of SSSS!

If it'd been a weekday, I probably would've been awake for it, haaa. ;_; Though partnering up with someone does sound like a good idea....
Now all I can do is hope that either there'll be a reprint, or that Minna will discover a pile of them somewhere that she forgot about. Neither very likely, but one never knows....

Oh my god, I totally thought "tears" was deliberate, considering all the wailing and gnashing of teeth that has been going on. : D HOPEFULLY when these are put up, there won't be a lot of crying....

Don't feel guilty about us not getting the book, you had nothing to do with it, it was just timezones and a person that forgot to set her alarm clock earlier... *is ashamed of herself*

From what I've been seeing of her tweets/replies, it looks... possible? But not for a good while. Which - fair enough, it's a huge book and she's been super busy with the SSSS print run, so that's understandable. I guess all we can do is just try to endure. : D

Minna wrote on the ssss update page (one of them) hat she'll consider the idea of the second print of aRTD book when it'll be like a 5th anniversary. And... it has already turned 2021, so i DM her in twitter but she doesn't respond.
Any recent news?

I for one haven't sadly heard anything about a reprint. I've been waiting and hoping for it to happen since I narrowly missed the original crowdfunding project, but looks like I'm hoping in vain.
In light of the recent happenings I am now also personally afraid the whole web comic might disappear soon. After all it's contents are quite pure paganism, and if Minna has ended up in one of our more strict and narrow-minded christian sects, there is always the possibility that she'll be strongly encouraged to take the whole aRTD down as sinful. So despite this meaning I'm giving some of my hard earned money to an Internet preacher, today I finally went and bought the PDF version.

Hmm, I really hope that doesn't happen. I was also hoping for a reprint because it's one of the few stories that I cry a bit about every few months and can't help to make art for sometimes just because I loved it as a teenager. Though I'd sensed Minna was heading down this path for a while now.
I don't think she'll delete the entire comic, though. Even if that were the case, there's webarchive and, uh, I guess there's always time to download each page individually? That's not a better alternative by any measure, but her problem seems to be mostly about making money off these things. And of course, the official PDF has that side content that everyone loves. I still would have liked to have a physical book, though.

I have long since bought the pdf and was hoping for a reprint.
Near the end of ARtD a Christian preacher is having a crisis at the gates of Tuonela, faced with an Afterlife that bore no resemblence to the one he'd believed in and preached about. It is a side note to the main story, but I found it wryly amusing.
No more lucre to be had there, I would bet.

Do you have a link to the site where you can purchase the PDF version? I just realized you're probably right and went to the website for aRTD and the store options are only for the donation wallpaper, prints, and mini-comics (side stories). It's possible I'm just not seeing it, but I can't find anything for the PDF version of the story itself. :(

I don't have a direct link to evidence to back this up, but I do remember Minna talking about aRTD in a Twitch stream just within the past couple of weeks. She said it would cost somewhere around $35k to do a physical reprint, and it sounded like she'd pretty much closed the book (no pun intended) on that. So I don't think we'll be getting another round of physical copies of aRTD. Which I'm bummed about too, I came in around 2014 and didn't care much about getting a physical aRTD volume until years after. :/

I would keep an eye out online on reselling sites, I wouldn't be surprised if some people leaving the fandom are getting rid of their copies.

Aaaah thank you both! Yes I did draw it -- I love watching compilations of funny cockatiels on YouTube and this one stretched its wings out in such a lovely way, I had to take a screenshot and do a study. I'm happy that you like it ;D
I do hope that Feartheviolas is right, that we'll be able to find used copies. I once saw one on eBay, I think, but wasn't fussed enough at the time to jump on it. Now that things are changing . . .
