That returns us to the question, though, asked by tamaerchen, what kind of subcultures are there for the modern Icelandic youth?

Followers of Hel seems like a good one. The Y90 Goths

Hipster shepherds. They sheer their sheep in undercuts and drink a lot of Y90 coffee (probably literally just bean juice)

The Hard core ones. They've given up skating and urb-exing for extreme shearing and mountain-climbing and wear knitted jumpers with skulls in the middle.

Roasted barley/rye grain "coffee" (those were used as coffee substitutes during the WW2 for example)? Or tea made of lichen, or herb tea blends. The most hip of them drink tea blends no one else has yet heard of. :D

Not really a subculture but I'd love to see some history re-enacting groups for Y0, with only a vague idea of what life really was like in Y0.

Laufey, that's a great idea! I can just imagine the confusion among well off youths such as Emil, with little education and his grasp of hiistory.....yes, I've been in reenactment groups, why do you ask?
