Title: The (No-Longer-Quite-So) All-Encompassing Fanfiction Index

For all of your fanfiction browsing needs! This is intended as a complete index of any and all fics that have been written in this fandom, regardless of platform or forum membership.

What you can expect to find here: any fic written for SSSS, regardless of forum membership and whether it was posted to FFNet, AO3, or directly to the Scriptorium, sorted by basic tags.

What you can expect not to find: anything NSFW. If someone wants to repeat this venture on the NSFW board, go right ahead, but I'm not on that board and don't want to link explicit stuff here.

A few other things:

I did not have the time to carefully read every single entry that has gone into this index. Most of the time I've either skimmed or trusted the author's tags. So if you're the original author, or have simply read the thing more thoroughly than I have, and you spot a mistake, please feel free to point it out to me.
If for any reason you do not want your work indexed here, let me know and I'll remove all of your stories from my master list.
In the event that an author has posted to more than one platform and uses different screennames, I'll use their forum name first, then their AO3 name, then FFNet. Similarly, I'll link stories via AO3 first, then FFNet, then anything posted directly to the forum.
Once I've gotten through the initial updating storm, I intend to start updating the index as a whole on the first of every month. Anonymous gift works will not be added until after the author reveals.
Any corrections and additions of missing stories will be made in realtime, allowing a day or so. New fics will be posted at the start of every month - so, all fics written in January will be posted on the first of February etc.
Non-completed stories are automatically marked as "Dead" if 1) the story has not been updated for a year or more, or 2) the author has declared it dead. If the author declares the story not-dead, I'll revert its status to "In progress" even if it's been over a year.

I looked up the non-English fics via a tag search, and for precaution's sake cut it off at a T rating since I have no way of knowing the content and exercising my own judgment. If you have a G-T rated non-English fic and it's not in this list, that's probably because it isn't tagged as such, so you'll have to bring it to my attention directly.

One note though: Project SSSS is crossover. I guess that could count as AU/cyberpunk but since my digimon crossovers are correctly called crossovers and not "Settings: Japan" or something I figured I should say so :P
(It's a crossover between SSSS and Project ARMS if you need details)

...also that untitled story of mine do have a name :D Hidden Spirits (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12056568/1/Hidden-Spirits). I guess I skipped writing the title in the scriptorium because it wasn't very important at that time?

If I may have a teeny-tiny nitpick, the Spectrology story of mine is set in the "present day" of the comic, not the prologue era. ;)

Lazy, I am responsible for 'An Historical Document'. It is ongoing, not dead, in that I have more of it written, as I do with 'A Few of Mikkel's Secrets', but until either I replace my devices or they cooperate better I can't post them. At present anything I can post is only in very short increments.

Eventually, there will be more, but not yet. I will try not to ragequit the whole online writing thing, because having discovered the writing of fanfic I find that I enjoy it, but sometimes it's hard!

Edit: not sure if 'angst' is how I would call 'An Historical Document', but maybe there isn't enough yet to tell? And being a tale set in the far future, involving their descendants and possible reincarnations, I guess it's an AU? The prompt in response to which it was written was something like 'A thousand years in the future'.

Although I can't help but be a pain and question the categorisation of my story Hallo Good This Him as "crack". It's a weird situation sure, and comedy ensues, but I did my best to make it consistent with the SSSS setting and Reynir's character. As such I'd suggest it's "humour" rather than crack.

My other works are crack of the very worst kind though, so no complaints there! ;D

After scanning through the lists, I'd like to suggest one small clarification to the first post in the thread: it looks like the "any and all fics" only applies to stories written in English? Maybe it would be a good idea to mention that, since there is a small number of SSSS fics written in other languages on AO3. I understand if you don't want to link to fics most people here can't read, it would just be nice to acknowledge the existence of fics written in other languages than English. :)

I would count it as a Reynir-centric story, although it features an ensemble cast. I... honestly don't know how to categorise it myself, maybe fantasy? It tends to swing between humour and angst, along with a dash of mystery and worldbuilding.

This brings up a question for the future, though. At some point, I am considering bestowing an actual title upon the work, how would that work for the distribution? Is the coding in the system live, that is, does it do any syncing? Can it tell when an ongoing story is marked as Complete?

What I've been doing is that I have a master list of fics that I've put together by hand; what the program does is go through and re-format and sort them into lists that will look good on the format. So while I have to make all changes to the master list by hand, they'll be distributed automatically every time I re-generate the lists. Putting it together initially was a daunting task, but as long as I keep up to date on the Scriptorium and AO3 it shouldn't be too hard to stay on top of things; I just need to keep track of which indices are in need of an overwrite.

My current plan after getting everything initialized is to update on the first of every month, when I'll post each month's new batch of stories, so any changes (i.e. completed story) will be reflected then.

'Cause I noticed a few of mine wasn't in it, but I don't really wanna complain about it if it's like "Well, stories not in english don't go here, obviously. Or stories with OCs. Or that doesn't feature the canon characters. Oh and obviously not Teen or Mature stories, those'd be silly to add" :P

What probably happened there was that I assumed that you've been linking everything you wrote in the Scriptorium (which was the first place I looked through), and so didn't check your FFNet profile as thoroughly as I might have otherwise. I'll put that on my list of things to do. But no, stories with OCs aren't banned as long as they belong to this fandom. Were you looking through the author index or through another list?

The only actual criteria I have at this time are 1) nothing that belongs on the NSFW board instead, and 2) for the time being I'm sticking with English fics.

Was pretty much looking through all the lists. I missed two already in the A-list and then I noticed more missing as time went on and then when the author list came I just compared my stories of ff.net to what was linked in there and was like "oh, okay, I wasn't imagining things. Okay, it should be fixed now, and Swedish stories are to-be-added. The only other ones I left out were a couple of your M-rated stories, due to the NSFW nature of the material.

Assuming that you don't want to run a website of your own to make your DB publicly available, may I suggest that you talk to the admins - specifically, Eriaror - about how to possibly upload the lists in a more efficient way, maybe making the views available as another thingie (https://ssssforum.com/thingies/)?

Actually I was thinking about suggesting it, but currently I have no free time because I still have an exam left.
Depending on how you store your data right now, I can get a thingie set up for this between a quite short amount of time and a tiny bit longer amount of time (aka. soon™). (Of course that's counting in the function of editing the data and adding to it in a nice user-friendly way, as that takes the most amount of time to get done. The display part I can do in some days at most, assuming I'm not being lazy.)

I can't promise anything because I already got the Comic Translation Project page (https://ssssforum.com/thingies/comictranslation.php) to more-or-less finish, but if I have time left after that's done and before the next semester of uni starts, I'd be happy to make this more easy to browse, because it's really an amazing job and deserves a proper home. ;)

Assuming that you don't want to run a website of your own to make your DB publicly available, may I suggest that you talk to the admins - specifically, Eriaror - about how to possibly upload the lists in a more efficient way, maybe making the views available as another thingie (https://ssssforum.com/thingies/)?

(And I think you'll need to change your nick. ;-)

I don't think I'll have a problem with keeping up with the editing given that there's a finite number of posts and I've developed a system; especially now that I'm now doing updates on a monthly basis. And there's going to be some degree of manual work regardless - even if there is a way to get a program to automatically search through AO3 and FFNet and the Scriptorium for new posts, my programming skills are currently not advanced enough to pull that off, and there are still things that only a human can do, such as determining genre and the like if the author hasn't tagged it.

I would, however, like to make the index searchable by more than one criterion at a time, and it looks as if a thingie would be a good way to do that. No rush in getting it set up, though.

And no I do not need to change my nick, it only means that I have infinite ideas. :P

As I said in the Scriptorium, I vote that your stories stay. You say you don't do well with tags, but you do well enough for me to get the warnings. I heed the authors' warnings, and sometimes I carry on reading, and sometimes I do not. Some wonderful writing can come out of those stories, and insights into the characters that you can't get when they're sitting around the breakfast table eating porridge (looking at my own writing there).

Lazy8 has helpfully included a genre index, so that can be a sensitivity filter.

It's safety precaution. Because there are people like me out there, who doesn't read the warnings. And then they get hurt. And I don't want them to get hurt, I don't want to hurt anyone. And it's not enought to remove only the bad stories because links to the others could still make people stumble over the stories that are hurtful. And some people don't look at genres either. Or maybe they think "how bad can it be?"

So really, it's better that way. If it's not too much trouble.

I'm not upset or anything with the request. Quite the opposite, I'm glad you made me aware! Honestly! Thing is as long as even one of my stories is linked then all of them are within reach for anyone who has the ability to click a link. This is all I can do to minimize the risk of the younger/more sensitive readers stumbling over them, short of removing them from ff.net (which would totally be an overreaction but was still heavily considered yesterday because I hurt people. My whole life has been a mess of me hurting myself in order to avoid hurting people and then I go and do it with the only thing I'm good at). But I mustn't rant. I apologize.

I am really grateful for your request and that you made me aware of my mistake, it gave me the opportunity to take precautions so it will not happen again. <3

It might've still been mislabeled as the "SSSS Superhero AU", and I know that that was in the lists. Generally those are the sorts of things I wait til the monthly update to correct, unless someone asks me otherwise.

The best place to post fics or links to them is in the Scriptorium threads. There are four Scriptoria, covering their subjects - SSSS (https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=193.0), A Redtail's Dream (https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=656.0), City of Hunger, (https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=996.0) and the Forum (https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=257.0), which is a catch-all for fics which are original works or other fandoms. There is also a Poetry (https://ssssforum.com/index.php?topic=4.0) section, which mostly contains (but is not restricted to) the lovely poems corncobman writes every page for the Disqus comments.

This Index, which I had great hopes to continue when Lazy8 left the fandom, has not been updated since they compiled January's. I had difficulty upskilling myself in the use of its scripts, alas. I also have not devoted the requisite time to keep up collecting the links necessary to run the scripts, once I despaired and gave up. :'(

@dreki what a sweet story! You should know that the open part of the Forum is PG-13 / T rated. So, if you write M stuff, please don’t link directly here. We have a Mature Content Board too, which you need to separately seek to access and must be 18 years old to get to,

In this story the smut is a wee bit on the fence of T / M, but this first chapter is in my opinion on the T side so with the way you put a warning to your message, I’m happy to let it stay on the main Forum. However I suggest you move it to the SSSS Scriptorium thread on the Writing Board, where it will also get more readers :)

Or, if you’d like to participate in the Prompt of the Week, the prompt for this week is Onni :) Cross-posting a link every now and then is ok too, if it’s relevant to both topics, so you could put it to both! This thread however is, like you pointed out, quite dead.

I should be able to move your post under the Scriptorium myself but I don’t seem to remember how it’s done!

Sorry I didn't realize, I managed to miss that. I think it's still T right now at least - I marked it m mostly for future stuff.

Dreki, no worries! I agree with you it’s T at the moment. However, if you want to make is more M, I will have to ask you to link on the Mature Board only, and remove links from the fenera board(s). You can put in instructions (“seach for so-and-so on AO3”). It’s partially for legal reasons if I have understood correctly, we could get into trouble with our hosting (which currently is free!) if there is a risk that we may be displaying explicit content to minors. So, links to content that is more than T rated can and will be removed by the Forum staff with no warning. This is stated in the Forum Rules and in the Writing Board instructions.
